1.
Seen these on the EBS site and having on of the Valve Drive pedals it appeals to me. With the 65 Amp Apollo, the Ashdown Little Bastard and this are we seeing a new trend for the small power studio bass head? I know I've used a MiniMat for a few years for home jamming and recording but like the idea of something bigger but not huge. Not sure how practical it would be in the grand scheme but I digress..... Any info appreciated and I'm guessing its based on the Fender Bassman circuit?
I got one. Check out topic no. 102651
2.
I know that EBS Watts usually go along way but even so... is 90w enough for gigging?
Once again it's not all about the amp. If you got a cabinet with good SPL then the amp is more than enough. I'm using my EBS with two 4x10" cabinets and it's at least loud enough. I got 3 amps and none of them has more than 140W (4x 6L6)... Well actually if you consider that they are valve amps and the power section is A/B then I don't think that any of them has even 110W. And I've done large stages too... At least here in Finland the PA steps in if the hall is anything larger than a pub. But for stage the amp is enough. BTW the EBS has quite low gain pre-amp. I've been boosting it with MXR micro amp which adds a huge amount of volume too.
3. I tried to search the forum... I did some internet searches too. But I still can't find too much info about this cabinet. Dr. Tube has this IBS manual for download and the manual sais that it is IBS series model no. 1520. 4x12" 150w Celestion Sidewinder speakers. The cabinet can handle 600w and it has a sensitivity of 104 dB! The reason why I'm so interested is that I bought JCM 800 bass series head about a year ago. The guy didn't want to sell the head without the "matching" cabinet... So I bought the cabinet too 'cause the price was decent. And so I had this HUGE Marshall 2x15" cabinet (IBS model 1552). I tried this half stack once or twice but never really got too keen to to the cabinet. But couple of days ago I thought that I'll give it an other chance... And it was worth it. All the troubles concerning the tone were gone. So the cabinet wasn't the trouble maker... It was the amp with the old tubes. I actually liked the sound so much that I would really like to know more about these Sidewinder loaded cabinets. Compared to the regular M-cabinets these IBS ones are "over sized". The depth of the cabinet is about 44.5 cm. Other dimensions are almost matching with about every other marshall cabinet. The cabinets plate sais "JCM 800 Bass series" but the model plate sais IBS 1552. Does anyone have that 4x12" model 1520? Have you seen these on eBay? Are they better known as JCM 800 cabinets or IBS cabinets? I would really appreciate every piece of information I can get. -Jaakko
4. It is a great amp indeed. I bought one about two months ago and I haven't regret it yet. Great deal for a decent price (it was about 900€ here in Finland).
5. This one is in eastern europe. Usually UK made tube amps are a bit more expensive in central europe than in UK. But thanks for all your replies. If anyone has price info from central europe I would appreciate that too.
6. Hi, Let's post to general 'cause I can't find right place for this one. If someone knows better (more efficient) place for this, please let me know. But anyway... A friend of mine has this Trace Elliot Valve series Twin all-tube (??) head... Image link to combo version: http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/5647/resi...im000663bu9.jpg (Image by MileBG from Gear Porn discussion) I don't know too much about the amp and it seems to be really hard to find any info about it. My friend would like to sell his amp and he asked me about the value... But I really don't have any facts to support my ideas about the price. So can anyone help me? I would guess that you can get at least 300€ no matter who is the buyer... But if it would be my amp I wouldn't sell it with less than 500€. Maybe someone who really wants the amp could pay something like 550...650€?? Maybe?? I found some adds pricing the Quatra version up to 1100€ which might indicate that the Twin could be worth even more than 650€. I would appreciate all help available. Thanks. -Jakke
