1. Hey lowhand_mike. The sound i'm getting is not far of compared to the vids.I didnt take to the fender strings the bass came with, the tone was good i didnt like the feel.Ive restrung it with sunbeams and the tone is lovely and warm with the bridge backed of about a third. The more i play it the better i like it to be honest.I suppose you'd have to have the same strings as the vid but i can get it as near as dammit with the DR's.I'll be trying thru' the rig tonight so it'll be a good test for the shielding. As for the price it was $500 including the shipping which was a $100. I'd have to agree.......Bargain
2. Well it's obvious to me,I mean how is he gunna fit it in the picture.
3. cheers guys, I realise i'm in danger of raving a bit too much about it but to be honest i'm really impressed with it and chuffed to bits i got it.Its a joy to play and although i hav'nt heard it my rig yet it sounds great through the roland DB500. The action is spot on,its intonated perfectly, the neck and body finish are both pefect.Ive looked for shortcomings and i'm being very picky when i say the tuners feel a little bit gritty and i'll prolly upgrade the bridge sometime, apart from there just arent any...at all. Unless ive been very lucky with this particular bass there are worse ways to spend sub £300 on a bass.I should also point out that 60 odd quid of the £285 was delivery costs. Highly recomended.
4. The Fez--steely dan. nice.
5. Ive gotta say that the build quality and attention to detail on my Korean bass, albeit not a fender is equally as good as the as the MM Sterling bass sitting right next to it.
6. There once was a nutty proffessor who always sought more for the lesser whilst browsing one day he stopped by to say oh f*ck it,i'll buy Bens compressor !! pm'd
7. You've now kinda got yourself in the place where its been ok (taking it for granted)and now its not...(taking the p*ss). You've made a major investment there,it will be hard telling the guys but you ought to....and soon.
8. stuff that dood, its your rig.lend it out if someones in a fix but there's a limit. What are going to do with £20 never mind a fiver. tekkin' the the proverbial that is.!!
9. welcome neill, great story mate.
10. Well he's here and the good news is that there was no duty to pay. The even better news is that there's no transit damage, the body colour is beaut.Ive waited to till daylight for he photo's and it was worth it. The body is allmost cream in colour, hopefully the pics will do it justice. The neck/body fit is as good as ive seen and the binding is spot on.The frets are well finished with no sharp edges at all.The neck has a satin finish, very smooth and it's slightly thicker in depth than your average jazz but it feels great. Ive given him a good look over in daylight this morning and to be honest the ATD on this bass is bloody good.As an an example the logo on the headstock,i thought it was stuck on after the fact,it looks like it from the pics. Its actually under the lacquer but you cant feel it in the finish, how long must that have taken to apply and level out, at £285 delivered this is an absolute bargain. The tone is great, plenty of mids and its a real growler. To top it off all/icing on the cake it's arrived in a good quality/very attractive looking kakhi gig bag, polishing cloth and tools included. I'm one happy bunny.
11. Thanks guys, to be honest i thought this would have flown. There might be some live playing (at last) for me in the offing so if it's not gone in a couple of days i think i'll withdraw it.
12. bumperoo.
13. Nope........it's not just you,its grim.
14. Cheers Mike........and cheers prosebass. I just had an email of Ryu,(pronounced Loo if you decide to phone him,btw his english isnt too bad) and he's just told me he's marked the box as a gift and value at $100.I did'nt ask him to do that so came as a suprise, will they fall for it or will they see through the charade and value it themselves as a priceless Korean artifact. To be continued....................... If i get stung for £60 i'll not be too depressed,as long as it turns up safe and sound i'll be happy as larry.
15. Hi. The bass was $500 delivered, last week that worked out at £285,not sure what it'll be now tho'. It was shipped last Friday and its at Heathrow now. There's bound be be some duty to pay tho'.
16. cheers dood.
17.
Did he promise to...... "ruvv you rong time!" as well......
thats not the half of it matey
18. yup,the only difference though is whichever colour you choose you'll get a different one........dispite numerous phone calls and emails...LOL. To be fair he's answered all my emails even called me at nearly midnight Korean time to answer any concerns. i'm a happy bunny really and i'll give him the benefit and see what its like when it turns up........providing it ends up in the right country/continent.
19. cheers bob,i feel sooooooooooo much better now. Its growin' on me though. Someone's gunna be a very happy Highway owner for sure.Ive got all the P honk a man could wish for with good ol Bobanez.
20. sorry,i meant the rosewood board is lighter in colour in the photo on the left, the one i ordered. The bass on the right is the one they've put together and shipped. Edit, it seems the bass hasnt shipped after all and here's the reply from willows guitar "Hi~ Thanks for your reply. I think I have to say "Do not worry~". It is the same "indian rosewood" and I have selected Premeuim grade for you. I rub some oil on the fingerboard so the look might be darker. And normally the darker rosewood has a good quality than brighter(ex:sonokelin). - it was not stein or boiled to make dark, it is naturally dried. The color would be much better if you see the real." So,it seems i have a "premium" grade rosewood board, not sure what sonokelin is though. google......???? Its nice enough like but i am i bit disapointed.
21. seems i was asking a bit much for the neck to be the right colour. i ordered the one with the lighter coloured neck and the darker one is en route. Please somebody tell me its as nice.........Pleeeeeeeease.
22. cheers guys. I read on talkbass that the pas jobbies are outdone by beta 10a's .its his money so i guess its up to him.
23. Not sure if this has been posted up before. Its from the latest edition of the online bass mag. Its pretty challenging if you add more than 4 intervals. There's a video tuorial half way down. Go spot that M3,perfect 5,m7 . http://trainear.com/index.php
24. and here's my erm.......spunky jazz body we've had a bit of tooing and fro'ing over the color but it seems ok.Not quite the aged look as it should be.Hopefully the neck will "as ordered",we'll see.
