1. I dont use an RCD but I do carry a martindale mains tester which I use to test any wall socket/extension lead before I use it

    something like this

    http://www.test4less.co.uk/details.asp?men...mp;ProductID=79

  2.
Thanks, where can I buy one?
3.
This is what I'm after! It has a little button on the front for bridged, and it has the little bridged thingy on the back.. I just need the cable i think. I don't know anything about impedance/ohms etc and dont wanna ruin my cab :/
My understanding is its the amp thats at risk if the cab is not an 8 ohm jobby
I ran my WT500 bridged (600 watts) into an Eden XLT410 for hundreds of gigs neither ever missed a beat (I may have missed one or two tho) :)

  4.
Alternatively you could consider one of these:

I believe that they come with either Speakon or Jack.

The WT800 needs an 8-ohm cabinet to work bridged. What is the make of your 4x10 and what is the impedance?
And how much would one of those be he say's thinking his jack to funny dual banana plug bit of mains cable with a speakon/jack adaptor may not be doing the rest of his kit justice  its all right its round the back no one will see it :)

  5.
I have an Eden WT800 + 4x10 XST, apparently i need a different lead (Jack to wire ends) to run it in bridged mode??

    I'm mega confused :)

Can someone point me in the right direction?!

    cheers
I run a WT 500 bridged into a Barefaced Compact (sold my Eden cabs could'nt carry them anymore) and I believe the WT 800 is much the same. On the front is a button that you will need a pen or something similar to bridge the amp (pushed in is bridged)

If its an older amp like mine there are three sets of binding posts on the back the bridged output is the middle one (its not literally in the middle

The posts are 19mm between centres and I managed to buy a plug and make up a lead that fitted unfortunately I cannot remember where I got it from

Talk to bassbits see if they can help you out/make up a lead for you the only thing you must be sure of is that the cab you are using is the correct impeadence
get it wrong and your looking at an expensive repair I think. I will see if I can find what the plug is and let you know

  6.
Hi guys,

as you've probably seen I'm trying to sell my Stingray at the moment. I originally just wanted to sell it locally as I've never shipped a bass (or anything else as big, just small parcels). I've realised it limits the amount of potential buyers and am now considering shipping the bass.

Rather than spending a couple of hours checking out all possible options, I wanted to ask you guys who do you tend to use for shipping? Do you bring the bass to a depot? Do the shipping company comes and collect from home? What is a good/average price to pay? What companies do you recommend / not recommend?

Please share your experience - I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in this!

    Thanks,

    Valere
I used these guys http://www.psap.co.uk/contact to ship a Wal to belgium not the cheapest but fully insured and they delivered in 3 days rather than the 5 I paid for. And the guy in the depot ....... a bass player complained I had parceled it up before he could see it

  7.
Well the Malekko is a high quality handmade analog delay. Has a lovely warm sound with great delay length for an analog.

The rotovibe is a univibe/chorus pedal that has a treadle like a wah. The sound can go between a nice watery shimmer to deep chorus and the univibe side is a vibrato type sound - on guitar think David Gilmour. Works nice with bass too.

The valcoder is a tiny pedal that is an analog tremolo. It wont do the choppy digital tremolo sound found on a TR-2 but more like the old tremolo switches on vintage amps. A great pedal, works really nice with the rotovibe.

A lot of the pedals have demo's on youtube but mostly with guitars rather than bass.

    Cheers

    Chris
Thanks for that

  8.
This is one of those debates in which everyone and no-one is right. Worth bearing in mind than many 'classic' tracks were likely recorded with cables we wouldn't touch with a barge pole now.
But they were probably the highest quality available at the time

  9.
The 2000 has more inputs, can run off a mic, calibrate to your input signal and some other bits and bobs.

Go to the Korg site and download the manual, its the same for both units, so you canreally see the differences.

Oh and the 2000 has a built in racklight, with which you can impress chicks, win friends, influence people, and end world poverty - at least thats what mine said....
Been using the same korg 1000 rack mounted for nigh on ten years quick enough for me, accurate enough for me never missed a beat

  10. Thanks guys yes I have played with saddle and bridge hight and truss rod but not really sure what Im doing so not confident.
Brighton is not so far away but a royal pain in the backside to drive too would be nice if there was someone nearer

  11. Can anybody recomend a luthier in the portsmouth area to look at my Warwick. I have tried to set up the kneck and have improved the action but im struggling to get the action down to where I want it and would like an expert to achieve what I'm after  or tell me that it is not achievable on this bass. :)

    thanks

  12.
yeah, after much thinking and hours of looking at diabolically large amps i reckon i'm going to go for a mini amp and cab seperates and sort out storing the head inside the cab for touring etc. so now i'm looking at valve heads possibly. hmmm.

thank you very much for the help though. i saw a previous thread on here about small amps so i'm going to scope that one out and do further research. god damn, i am so sick of looking at ebay.
Would you be interested in a Tecamp Puma 350 I bought on a whim thinking it might be a light weight replacement for my heavy weight Eden. Its 3 months old never been gigged only a couple of rehersals would include the case its in, absolutly mint condition and only weighs 2.4Kg.

  13. Put this under your cab in the boot of your car and the car will turn over before the cab moves (ok slight exageration) or cut it up and use it to keep your little micro amps from walking off the top of your cab £2.99 fron Liddles (thats not spelt right is it?) Bargain

  14.
Does anyone know if the pjb bass suitcase +4B cab would be loud enough for playing pubs/small venues ?. Thinking about getting rid of my TE rig for something a bit easier to move around as i keep smashing my wrists on door frames, really like the sound on pjb stuff but never really inquired about the power. Any help would be appreciated thanks =)

    Callum
Dont use one myself but a friend does and having heard him play in a number of venues I think it will depend on how loud your band is, full tilt rock drummer will leave you well out of the mix but for something a bit more blues/ jazz you wont have any troubles at all. And you need to like a clean sound PJB does'nt do dirty. I considered the same set up but but it was not what I really wanted I now have Barefaced compact/tecamp puma much louder and a lot more bottom end. I guess what I'm saying is you really need to try it out before you buy its a bit of a specialised sort of set up more popular with the upright players which is also the reason my mate bought one

  15. Teamp puma 350 is 250watt into my compact and it produces a very big sound at suprisingly high volume levels. I tried out a genze but thought the sound to cold for my taste also tried the GK mb2 much warmer sounding than the Genze and I would have bought one but for the Tecamp coming along at a price I could'nt resist and to date I am very happy with it. Its worth remembering that the compact is very efficient and will produce much higher sound levels for a given number of watts than you would expect. I guess the only way to be sure is to try them.
