  1. I think the neck on a 4 string Sterling measures roughly the same as a Jazz and not a million miles from a Ibanez SR.
  2. Really interesting to see a sterling and a ray side by side. Shows how much smaller the body is. I have a usa sterling which I'm pretty sure is mid 90's. It has the mute bridge but no mutes. It just feels right as soon as you pick it up. Enjoy!

  4. I could sit closer. 😄
  5. Thanks for that. I'm looking round for a bass to play when I'm too lazy to plug in, which is most of the time.
  6. Hi Fleabag, What are the volume and tone like unplugged compared to a solid body? Cheers, Andy.

  8. Me too. Never played the SRH but the couple of SR's I've had have been so comfy to play and well built and finished.
  9. It would be really nice with just a natural finish.

  16. I'm guessing that a leather scratchplate model would be one of the earliest / rarest / most valuable. Only ever seen a pic of one.

  22. Hi Lefty. All reviews of Alvarez stuff are good. I'd never heard of them til I came across these. There was or maybe still is a company called icoustic who fitted an amp inside the msb1 and a speaker fitted in the sound hole. Interesting but expensive I seem to remember.
  23. This is what I'm playing at the moment. After a few years of not playing at all, I took this out of its bag a week or so ago. I haven't bothered with either of my electrics yet, just been noodling on this. The scale length is only abot 27" and the body is tiny and just over 3"deep. The label says made in China but the build quality is excellent. The satin finish is superb and it must be just about the smoothest neck i've played. It wasn't quite right when I bought it, the passive pick up was rattling around inside, so I reglued it. It had phosphor bronze strings and was tuned EADG. This gave about equal parts string noise to music. I've changed to lighter nylon tape wound strings and it is now tuned ADGC. Great fun to play.
  24. My Yamahas. The tele shape one is a Pacifica 311s. The other orange one is an aex502. And of course the aex500n. All are gorgeous.
