Hooorrayyy - I finally got my new baby After a long time of searching and trying out several different types I ended up with a Fodera NYC Empire 5-string. Very nice bass with a super-nice B-string and the legendary Pope preamp. I'm not sure if you know it ( probably not ) but the Celinder factory has in fact shut down. Apparently Chris was too bad a businessman, which means that he couldn't keep his times of delivery. I know several bassplayer that waited for more than 2 years for delivery. I guess the bad reputation caught up with him. Sorry - the basses are great!

[/quote] If this thread is to be taken [b]back on track[/b] ( got it? ) I will suggest that you make some very simple backtracks where you simply put a click in the left channel of a stereo mix and the tracks in the right. Then it will do, and you can try out if this is what you want. Use some sort of Cubase, Audition, Garageband or anything similar. If you decide to go along with the idea after having tried it out ( it is a little more complex to get to work, than it sounds ) then you need to get up a step or two. I use a Macbook and Logic Pro with a MOTU firewire interface. Then I can make as many tracks as I wish AND I can route whichever click I want to its own output....for the drummer to use. Be aware that the drummers have different wishes regarding how the click is produces. Some only want 1/4-notes and some want 1/16 notes. I needs to be tested which works best for your drummer. I think that it is ok to use backtracks. I occasionally play in a band with tracks, and it is great fun BUT you need to be able to groove along with the tracks - not as easy as it sounds. Good luck with the project. It absolutely is do-able, so go ahead - it is a playground

Hello all you deep talkers I've come across a Fodera N.Y.C Empire 5-string which looks kind of nice. It is however located some 4 hours of driving from my home, so I was wondering if any of you bass lovers have ever tried such one. I don't know much about Fodera ( nothing actually ) but I understand that it is special and in the higher end of the scale. Just tried out a Sadowsky Metro RV5....this is not my next bass. I experienced that the EADG-strings sounded as expected ( very clear and bright ) but the B string lacked tone. I could hear the string but I couldn't define which note was being played. I tried to play at the bridge position as well as the neck position, and every pu combination. I even used my own bass rig ( Eden WT800 and Eden 210T, and I also tried it out on an Epifani rig. Same story. Now I wonder if it is due to the 34" scale - Any comments on the Läkland Skyline Darry Jones V'er vs. the Sadowsky?

It sure helped me a lot with all these inputs on the subject! I've decided to try a 34" - I once owned an ESP Horizon V but it never really grew on me. Does any of you know if that particular model is 34" or 35", because as I recall it was a little too tense on the D and G strings......compared to my favourite Fender that is.

For some time now I've been searching for at forum like this in the EU area. Here it is and actually a very good one OK - I'm from Denmark and I've played bass since 1977. I have been through a Höffner Violinbass ( you know the Paul McCartney model ), a Fender Jazz '72 ( rubbish ), a Fender P '67 ( love it and use it all the time ), a ESP Horizon 5-string, a Tune Bass Maniac 5-string fretless ( still use it occasionaly )....and the some acoustic guitar I play mostly pop/rock music in various constellations. Read music but don't use it often....on bass anyhow. I am in the search for a good crunchy 5-string. Gear - Top: David Eden WT-800 and David Eden Nemesis 340 ( I think ) Speakers: David Eden 210T and some EV-350 15" No effects except for an EBS octaver Hi to you all Ricki
