  1. One of the best (my favourite) funk/blues/fusion guitar trio albums was a CD I bought from a UK band. Will have the dig the CD out as I can't find anything specific on them online. They were called 'JuJu' I think. Or that was the name of their album.

As great as Jamiroquai are, for me at least, they have never been the same since the departure of Smith (RIP :(and Zender.

This tbh. I was a massive fanboy of Zender when I started learning bass at 14 (95). Even drew a little jamiroquai man on my encore bass. My first band at 16-19 were definitely this kind of acid jazz/funk vibe too.

  3. The serial is super confusing 6P02004 as it puts it as an 86 bass using that coding but TRB basses didn't come out until 89/90 and even then they were in P/J format for a number of years. I thought basses with this pickup configuration  and colourway (charcoal grey) didn't come out until 1995.  Could this potentially be a 1996 August TRB5?

Regardless of dating, as you stated was actually the first Japanese TRB5 (mk1) with slapcut announced in 95/96 and wonderful basses.  I still regret selling my TRB6 from the same years (had relatively the same case too)

Excellent value for an excellent 5 string.

Is the J pickup on these standard size? Thinking about one of those oil city Ric J pickups in the J position could turn one of these into a monster!

I know you're likely thinking 4 string but just a heads up I needed some routing done to fit some Aguilars on the 5 string. Along with custom plate to make it a bit neater too.

  5. I got mine for my 14th birthday from Chappells of bond street in Milton Keynes. I couldn't play and never played before. I saw the Encore E83b ltd edition amoungst all the other basses and just loved the look of it and asked the salesman to play it for me. A few minutes of Mark King style slap later I asked my mum and dad for it. Plus a small Marshall amp. Joined my first band at 17 (when I had hair) and proceeded to put a Jamiroquai picture and paw prints on (the band was called The Fat Cat Experience and I was very into Zender back then).  I gave it to my niece in my 20s when I got my TRB6. Many years later near the start of the Pandemic I asked and it turns out they still had it in storage so gave it back. 20ish years later. Still one of the nicest P style necks I've played and now I can teach my children on it. Now just debate to leave all original or upgrade electronics?IMAG0420.thumb.jpg.251841c651033106505e03422140bb5a.jpgIMG_20181228_162018_081.thumb.jpg.846625ce55f8608500ec6985053bc333.jpgPXL_20210429_170437266_MP.thumb.jpg.dba5f6f518a0c776c4cd986bc6188cd6.jpg
