1. I have three unused sets of Picato long-scale nickel roundwound 40-60-75-95 in original packaging (clear plastic pack). I've been using Picato for several years now and very happy with them. These light gauge sets are just surplus to requirements. Good quality strings at a very reasonable recession busting price:

£6.50 for one set or £17.50 for all three sets including delivery (UK only)

Paypal accepted, please PM if interested

2. Thanks for all the feedback, particularly throwoff and observer for Defil and Cheesyguitars. From the machine heads it does indeed look like a Defil which would tie in with where it's being sold from (Poland). Listing of Defil guitars from cheesy here for anyone who's interested - http://www.cheesyguitars.com/guitars_poland.html. This one is the coolest by far IMO. All I need now is a Thunderbirds tribute band

3. These are exceptional pickups. They deliver a stronger fundamental than conventional pups and the unique mid-range tone setup provides much wider control of the sound than just a conventional tone pot.

These are the V2JLH (linear humbucker) version as shown here - http://www.villex.com/pickups.html

Includes standard jazz bell plate with stacked vol/vol, mid-range sweep and passive tone.

I had them installed on a Squier VMJ fretless where they added a whole new dimension to the sound. I sold the VJM earlier this year hence the sale of these.

I bought them in Feb 2010 from BCer TPJ, original post here - http://basschat.co.u...s-pickups-sold/

Price £75 delivered (UK only)

4. There are some interesting comments about the new American Deluxe on this post - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/160543-201011-american-deluxe-fender-ps-and-js-experience/

Fantobass001 comments about the pan pot vs standard VVT layout in the third post down.

5. Complete set of 'Improvising Bass guitar' books:

Book 1 (early stages) - 16 pages plus CD with 12 play along tracks
Book 2 (intermediate) - 16 pages plus CD with 12 play along tracks
Book 3 (advanced) - 20 pages plus CD with 12 play along tracks

Book content is sparse and doesn't provide much in the way of tuition. CD backing tracks are useful and cover a range of styles from blues and rock to soul and jazz. Chord charts for each song are provided in the book. Suitable for someone who wants to get a feel for playing to different music styles.

£7 delivered (UK only), PayPal preferred

6. Yes you're probably right. But I guess the likes of Rob Allen and Joe Veillette we're relatively unknown once. Expensive for sure and definitely not an impulse purchase (for me at any rate!). I'm just curious to know what the word on the street is. If any

7. Does anyone here have any experience of or views on Kristall basses, specifically the Room 5 model?

http://www.kristallbass.com/index.php?id=25&L=1

Haven't come across them before. Any input welcome...
