1.
I am interested, can I come and try it, where abouts in Birnmingham are you?
PM'd
 2. Excellent, thanks very much guys, started working through those videos, they'll be very useful I'm sure. Great point about using more than one oscillator, think I'll get a sound that I'm happy with using just one first and maybe add a sub 'felt rather than heard' type sound if needed. Hopefully I'll get chance to post a video soon to let you know how I've got on. Thanks again
 3.
If you're ever in Manchester with it & I'm free, I'm more than happy to help. Used to have a Gaia too so know my way around it.
Thanks man, that's very kind of you I'll be sure to give you a shout when I'm next in Manchester!
 4. Hi all, So I picked up a Roland Gaia synth recently to play some bass synth parts. I'm struggling to find much in the way of tutorials or help in creating specifically bass sounds for someone who's new to this. If anyone can point me towards some it would be much appreciated :-). Or if anyone who's particularly handy with creating synth sounds wants to give me a crash course lesson in person that would be even better!
 5. If this helps the string length (from the ball end to the start of the winding) is 135cm.
 6. Never mind, managed to find what I was after, please remove!
 7. This is very similar to my bass, whoever buys this will not be disappointed! Good price too..
 8. Yeah somebody else asked me a similar question... I honestly don't know, hopefully someone on here can help you out!
 9.
Any idea how these measure up tension-wise compared to the Ultralites?
I'm not sure, i've never tried ultralites. I found them very easy to play though, particularly the D and G, the E and A seem slightly more tense on my bass. Hopefully someone else on here might know!
 10. Thanks for the comments, I think they are a relatively new string, hence the lack of info
 11. Hmm ok that's interesting, I'll definitely have to give the honeys a go at some point. This is going to be an expensive process!
 12. Thanks for all the suggestions!
Innovation Honey would be my suggestion. Not too expensive either. I think they do have a synthetic core but I've had no tuning problems with them.
Innovation honey's might be good, but I have a feeling they might be slightly higher tension than I would like. How would you say they compare in tension to other strings?
Velvet Garbos are great but a bit pricey. Velvet Blues are a good cheaper option. The tuning stability is a bit iffy while they stretch, but that settles after about a week.
I've tried the velvet blue's, very nice but i didn't get on with how they felt and they sounded a bit metallic for my liking with my bass. Didn't work too well with a bow either :-S.
The nicest low tension steel I have tried are Kolstein Heritage. Not massively pricey (cost just over £100 if you import from Gollihur's in US). Cheapest option will be Innovations
These are on my list to try out at some point! Also thinking of trying: Jargar dolce gauge Corelli 370m Daddario Helicore lights Spiro Solo's tuned down. Anyone got experience with any of those?
 13. So recently I've been testing out a lot of different strings but I'm still struggling to find a string that I feel most comfortable with. I've used evah weich's for a while and I like the sound and feel, however my ideal string would be a little less tense and more flexible for pizzicato playing (which I do 90% of the time). Most probably a steel string and usable with a bow (though not my main priority). All the nylon core strings that I've tried bug me because they don't stay in tune very well... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Alex
