First gig of 2023 saw us return to a localish social club last night. Was a fairly good turn out and we seemed to go down well. We are back there again in September.

Just arrived home from Skegness where we was playing with the Verity/Bromham band. I kept things simple, Squier Jazz into a Zoom b1fourx (just compression) then into the house SVT Classic and 8x10. Best tone evaaaaaaah! We went down a storm and I won the prize for the lariest trousers. Even had a guy come up on stage and propose to his Girlfriend! Happy Daze!
Nice one! You competing with Martin Turner on the trouser front?

Sad loss. Only saw him once with Clapton. He certainly blew Clapton away that night.

Played a local social club which was OK but quite a poor turnout. We played well enough and the few that were there seemed to enjoy it.
Onwards to 2023!

never managed to see SAHB. Its one of my disappointments in life. Them and Kiss.
My regret is never catching Rory Gallagher.

Doin good mate. Keeping busy. Let me know how the gig went Daryl.
Doing a wee jam session spot this Sunday afternoon with guys i played with in 80's doing Pink Floyd, Alex Harvey and a wee bit of Hendrix. Had a short rehearsal with them tonight for an hour and it seemed ok. Took me back to my younger days LOL
All the best
Dave
Love some Alex Harvey. Saw SAHB back in the 70s in Nottingham.

Played a social club last night that we last played before lockdown. Not a bad size crowd and we played well with a dep drummer (our usual drummers brother).

Yes - Stu is now living in Spain. We played with MT's Wishone Ash last year and I met Martin - Nice Guy!
Yes, I heard he had retired over there. I met Martin a couple of times also.

We had a really enjoyable gig at The Cavern in Raynes Park last night playing as ‘Del Bromham and Friends. It was a more intimate venue than we normally play, and it made a change to only have the keys, vocals and kick drum going through the PA - but it was really nice - hearing the guitar and bass as the musicians have voiced them!
We only played a handful of numbers by Stray, concentrating on Del’s solo stuff. We played a few we’d never played before including ‘Around The World in 80 Days’ (Del reckons even Stray had never done this one live), ‘Morning Dew’ and ‘I Am’ from the new album. We also played ‘Can’t Find My Way Home’ which I’d never played before and ‘White Feather’ which we’d only played once at The Stables PC (pre covid!).
WE had a great crowd and to top it all there was a fab chippy next door! Big thank you to our drummist for the long derrière drive there and back, Noel, the Guvnor for his welcome and enthusiasm, and everyone who turned up for keeping music live!
I saw Stray a few years ago supporting Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash at Marshalls in Bletchley. That was when your predecessor Stu (who I knew vaguely through a mutual musician friend) was playing bass.

Watched an Arena documentary on BBC4 last night about Chrissie Hynde. I guess it was a repeat but not certain Although I am not particularly a fan I found it very interesting and well worth a watch.

I watched most of it, missed the start, but really enjoyed it. A fitting tribute to Taylor.

Pub gig last night where we had played earlier this year. Only a small audience but were appreciative so not a bad night overall.

Second three-gig weekend on the trot (kind-of)... this time with three different bands.
Friday was a dep at a club in Sunderland with an Eagles / CSNY / Byrds / Steely Dan etc. band I occasionally work with. This time they also had a dep guitarist, which kept things extra spicy.
Lots of hoying in BVs and last-minute set additions to cater for the even newer dep.
Gig two was a charity do with a bunch of pals. 250 people in a club in Cullercoats. Raised a load of cash for North East homeless.
Here's a bit of a tune:
..and gig 3 was supposed to be the highlight, but unfortunately it wasn't to be.
The first gig by another of my old bands in ten years at a festival not far from home. Very excited, people traveling from afar... but the British weather had other plans. Two songs in, the heavens opened. Ah, well. Here's to 2032.
A few classic Lindisfarne numbers in that set!

New venue for us last night and I understand first band in the pub since new landlady a few months ago.
Was a good crowd, mainly down to our vocalist being local and she had invited most of them.
Landlady was very happy so should hopefully be getting a re-booking soon.

We had the same issues on Saturday around the football although we were advised beforehand that it would be a late start.
Started about 10.30pm and played through to just after midnight in the end. Was actually still a good crowd in the club and were up for a good time.

Our second post Covid lockdown gig last night. Full pub and lively bunch, had a good night all round.

Be aware if playing a pub gig there will always be a group of punters stood blocking the doorway of the almost empty pub when you are trying to load up.

Yours truly with the pint glass in mid to late 70's. My brother with the guitar.

First full gig last night since lockdown. We had to cancel one in March due to a band member getting Covid.
Went really well, we are already booked to return in September but landlord tried to fit us in for another but we didn't have any mutually acceptable dates unfortunately.

Shocked and saddened when I heard the news earlier. RIP Taylor.
