Prices are adjusted on a sliding scale apparently.

I think he may have given up on that one...

They have a Bargain Bassment aisle, I picked up a bottle of Pino Noir and a packet of Jaco's Cream Crackers.

I would credit Jamerson with introducing jazz sensibilities to popular music of the time. All the non-diatonic, chromatic, rhythmically complex bass parts were a bolt out of the blue. Berry basically gave Jamerson free reign, some of those pieces are concertos for bass. Sometimes he was the tune...

No Jamerson unfortunately, he was a major part of the Motown sound. He was asked to simplify his parts because the guys out on the road had trouble coping with it.

He has an interesting melodic approach, Oliver's Army has some nice ideas, Shipbuilding too. A good sense of harmony.

Tony played on 8 BC albums & dozens of non-album tracks. Great player (and certainly an influence of mine) but that's a significant output.
With Big Country I suppose.

Terry Jackson. Killed in a plane crash while touring with Reba McEntire. He was 28.

Ashdown have been very reliable when I have needed their services, carpet covering cabs and speaker/horn refits. That was a while ago. I had the ABM800 serviced but it hasn't let me down once since I bought it around '97, and I've had to work that amp pretty hard.

Marks & Spencer. I returned my third pair of underpants last week for fraying and thinning after a mere three years of service. I explained that they were treated with due care, they get washed once a month whether they need it or not.
They were happy to help, I've never witnessed such rapidity in service, I was out of there in no time at all.

Total Dolby fan here…
Downtempo track but as bass parts go, I've always liked this one from Cruel. I can only assume that the double bass part was composed by Dolby, and Seligman plays fretless later in the track. It's a written bass part, non-repetitive which means transcribing the whole thing. Some of the timings are nice.

Perhaps the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about...

He knows how to work those Warwicks well, I always liked his sound for what he was doing, authentic.

This is the key point - getting the right sound is only half of it - getting the clipped sixteenths and the swing and syncopation right is the other half.
I love taking 80's and early House synth bass lines to pieces and playing them- yes, a different approach, and an education for me, anyway. 🙂
When you get a bit of spare time, take a listen to Rick Astley's Never Going to Give You Up - this has the mother of all synth basslines
It's a proper bass part, and one I don't think would come naturally to a bassist.
I think Freddie came up with this line, fun to play along with but quite tricky:
