If the Punters believe it then perhaps its in the Luthiers interest to perpetuate this myth? If it sells instruments then so be it.
After spending a wad of cash for a custom instrument with wood X to do this and wood Y to do this, the customer will hear exactly what they want to hear and not necessarily be entirely objective ......but everyone is a winner. -
+1 Neepheid couldnt agree more.

I originally used a 33" scale as the build was for small hands (my daughter), But after
playing it for a while I really like it myself, in fact I play the thing more than she does.
anyhoo....
Hopefully i'll get the fb bound with the walnut you can see alongside this weekend
and get the neck ready for carving see how the free time goes.

Truss Rod in and slots cut (ebony board)

I don't think you'll be dissapointed with either (the scale length OR the ACG).
When you get to our age...comfort always comes first!! -
Leckies .........!?

Have to agree with Paulflan, defo put a truss rod in. Its not just about keeping the neck straight, you need a little give for a good neck relief.
Personally i think the carbon fibre is optional for a 4 string, but hey...i'm old school.
Good luck!

Finally able to start making some sawdust. I have made just a few small tweaks from my original design. It will be another 33" scale job. So far we have . .. [Body] Burr Elm top Olive Ash body Walnut Accent Have some nice Padauk for the neck, which is in the process of scarf jointing and is in clamps at the moment. Just waiting for a few more supplies to arrive... IanM
