1. After trying to sell it and nobody wanting it enough I have decided it would be stupid to get rid of such a good bit of gear even if it hasn't been played for ages!!! Good excuse to get it out and have a bash... Thanks everyone. Alex
  2.
Have you got any pics to compare? cheers Keith
Will take some later and post them - just nearly killed my shoulders doing some long awaited practice on it! A

  4.
I'm enjoying playing the red bass now I've found a pick up that suits it.
Looks identical to my little german flatback - think the major is a bit over with his estimate - mine is valued at aroun 7 or 8k with lots of decent work having been done on it by my man in Greenwich. Mine is from around 1890 and plays like a dream - very gutsy little thing... Alex
  5.
how is the action set on this? are you open to offers? jeff
Hi jeff Action set as set up by Mo years ago - pretty regular I would say! Offers - PM me and see where we go from there!! Alex
  6.
Alex, This may sound a little dumb, but it has worked for me on at least three occasions. Change the title of the thread to "Mo Clifton Electric Double Bass / Electric Upright Bass / EUB for sale". The search engines will pick this up and you'll get a sale for someone new to Basschat. This worked for me when I sold a KYDD Piccolo, a Takamine eub and a Bridge eub. Each time, just as I was about to give up on the sale, someone picked it up via Google. Steve
Thanks both of you!!! Will try all suggestions - don't want it to go for a stupid price!!!
  7.
This one's going to have to be ebayed if nobody wants it on here...
Anybody suggest anthing pre ebay??? anyone out there??? Alex

  9.
Thanks again!!! Will do that and put even more sensible price of 180... what a bugger!!! but good deal for somone that wants it!
OK - so instead of ebaying this how about you guys put in some really sensible offers!!! Will reduce listed price to 150 and see what you think?!!!! A
  10.
I've had one for years, and I think its the only EUB design that allows you to go back to acoustic with little/no adjustment. The only issue is that most acoustics do vary in size, neck proportions and heel placement..but the Clifton design is the best I've seen. And its virtually silent if you dont plug it in.
This one's going to have to be ebayed if nobody wants it on here...

Let me know if you still can't find it! Thanks, Alex
I think it's going to have be an ebay job if noboby fancies it on here... A

  15. My Clifton is on the For Sale page - check it out! Needing a good home... Cheers guys, Alex
  16.
Very true, works the other way round too. A double bass with very low action and spiros amplified will sound like a fretless on steroids. I'd also try a set of dark orchestral strings (like flexocores or belcantos) on the NS. Those instruments have so much sustain, you need a dark thumpy stringset to try to counteract that.
Personally I would say the Clifton - and I have one to sell!!! Check out the add - it's nearly ten years old but had so little use it's silly. I'm a classical player and bought it for doing quiet practice - neck length and tone quality amazingly similar to my nearly two hundred year old acoustic. Not bad!!! Hope it gets a good home... A
  17.
Sorry! The fretless was always less money than the fretted one. At one point the fretless was about £199 new! .. Amazing deal. Incidentally you may want to edit the first post and change the title to "Squier VMJ Fretless" Most people know what that is.
Thanks again!!! Will do that and put even more sensible price of 180... what a bugger!!! but good deal for somone that wants it!
  18.
Hi, Welcome to Basschat. I'm afraid that's a rather unrealistic price as these are now about £220 new .. Sorry mate.. Vintage Modified Fretless New for £220
Cheers!! Thanks for that... amazing how quickly things change - have amended my ideas!!!
  19. Bought beginning of year - never played - really couldn't get to grips with the whole electric bass thing. So - as new, bought for £280 from GAK in Brighton Will take £150 or sensible offer. Bass in Brighton. Thanks all you guys - good sale... Alex
  20.
I contacted him a few years back about buying one but never got my hands on one as I got the NS, if this plays like a DB I will be very intrested indeed
It really does - I am a classical double bass player and loved the sound of the realist pickup and the fact that it felt so much like my acoustic DB. Let me know!
  21. Clifton EUB made in 1999 - has had hardly any use - was used as a practice instrument and in education workshops - no gigging done on it! Given excellent condition am asking £1600 for it to include gig bag. Based in Brighton Thanks, Alex
