1. Unless Gak are feeling generous, its unlikely you will get a refund. Their obligations under consumer protection is to provide a repair, but as you have had the amp for more than 30 days, not a replacement or refund. Social Media is not a bad idea, and if you bought with a credit card, the credit card company is jointly liable

     30-day right to reject

Under the Consumer Rights Act you have a legal right to reject goods that are of unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described, and get a full refund - as long as you do this quickly.
This right is limited to 30 days from the date you buy your product. After 30 days, you will not be legally entitled to a full refund if your item develops a fault, although some sellers may offer you an extended refund period.
This right to a refund doesn't apply to products you've bought as downloads, though - such as music, games or apps.

If you are outside the 30-day right to reject, you have to give the retailer one opportunity to repair or replace any goods or digital content which are of unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described.
You can state your preference, but the retailer can normally choose whichever would be cheapest or easier for it to do.
If the attempt at a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, you can then claim a refund or a price reduction if you wish to keep the product.
You're entitled to a full or partial refund instead of a repair or replacement if any of the following are true:

the cost of the repair or replacement is disproportionate to the value of the goods or digital content

a repair or replacement is impossible

a repair or replacement would cause you significant inconvenience

the repair would take an unreasonably long amount of time.
If a repair or replacement is not possible, or the attempt at repair fails, or the first replacement also turns out to be defective, you have a further right to receive a refund of up to 100% of the price you paid, or to reject the goods for a full refund.
If you don't want a refund and still want your product repaired or replaced, you have the right to request that the retailer makes further attempts at a repair or replacement.
Use our step-by-step guide if you want to ask a retailer to repair or replace something you've bought that subsequently develops a fault.

Christ on a bike, Ringo Starr is a sh*t drummer. I didn't realise that there might be some truth to the legend that Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in The Beatles.

He just doesn't/didn't seem to have a clue.
But didn’t John Lennon himself criticize Ringo’s drumming? When asked was Ringo the best drummer in the world, he famously replied “Ringo isn’t even the best drummer in the Beatles!” Well, actually, no he didn’t. Beatles biographer Mark Lewisohn, one of the world’s leading authorities on the band, recently proved that Lennon never said that at all. The remark was actually made by Liverpool comedian Jasper Carrot. Another internet myth bites the dust.

  4. Theres a great story about Graham Gouldman in Graham Nashes autobiography.

In his autobiography, Wild Tales, Nash said the band was introduced to “Look Through Any Window” when they were asked by a friend to listen to a budding young songwriter. “We go over to the address he gave us — a semi-detached house in one of the better neighborhoods in Manchester — to meet this so-called songwriter, a 15-year-old Jewish kid named Graham Gouldman. Now, we’re the Hollies — and we know we’re the Hollies, so we’re not going to make it easy on him, kid or no kid. We’re sitting in this posh, middle-class living room, slipcovers on the sofas, nice art on the wall. I threw Mr. Songwriter one of my best stony stares and said, ‘Okay, kid — give it your best shot.’
“He picked up an acoustic guitar and started playing ‘Bus stop, wet day, she’s there, I say, “Please share my umbrella …“‘ And it’s f—ing fabulous! Tony, Allan and I are cutting glances at each other, and … we know this is a hit song. We know what we can do with it too, putting a Hollies spin on the tune. We were pretty excited, ready to rush out of there and get our claws into this song, when I said to him, ‘Uh, before we go … got anything else?’ Before the words were out of my mouth, he started singing, ‘Look through any window, yeah, what do you see? / Smiling faces all around …‘
“We just stopped and stared. ‘Okay, kid — that’s two. We’re definitely taking those two. No question about it …,'” he continued. “Before we even got back home, Tony had put a gorgeous 12-string riff to the intro of ‘Look Through Any Window.’ The song was made to be sung by voices like ours. All the harmonies were right there, and in no time we turned it into a Hollies song. We recorded it in less than two hours and knew we had an instant hit on our hands.”

Pedant alert but the drummer (Paul Burgess) played with them live back in the day: saw them at Leeds Uni in the 70's with 2 drummers, Kevin Godley and Paul Burgess.

Pedant Alert 2, 10cc started in 72 but Paul Burgess didnt join them as a touring member till 73

Hes a great drummer, and makes it look like its so easy

Incidentally, I'm not a fan of wireless packs that have non replaceable batteries... or not AAs for that matter! At least if you have forgotten to charge your wireless (last minute gig comes in or whatever) - you can quickly pop to pretty much any shop and pick up some AAs. Can't say that for AAAs... and you are out of luck if you have non replaceable batteries. The other thing about non replaceable batteries is the hassle of sorting them if it goes faulty or dies over time etc...

The stageclix plugs into the receiver and charges from there. My stageclix has charge left from the last gig,I move my amp in place, plug in the cables and the stageclix on charge. Do the soundcheck, put the transmitter on charge while I wait to go on stage, and during the break.

In 5 years ive never had a flat battery.

My preference for the StageClix has a lot to do with the "no batteries" set up. Very convenient.
Thats why I like the stageclix, never have to worry about spare batteries. With my old system I used to chuck the battery away after every gig, just to make sure I didnt die midway through the next gig. bought mine early 2012, never had a minutes problem. It is not cheap, but in my opinion, worth it

  9. I like the stageclix,
Built like a brick outhouse, 2.4 MHz and can select channels so little chance of interfering with other users. Mains powered receiver, transmitter has its own rechargable battery which charges when plugged into receiver. I find if I leave it charging after set up and befor playing, it will charge fully, so no batteries or separate chargers to faf about with

  10. I have a fender neo 4x10 which I use with a fender bassman100T which works in a pub fine against a reasonably loud drummer and 2 other guitarists. I have also used it with a Phil Jones M500 which is a bit louder.

Whether it would work for you I dont know.

Wow, i would be so disappointed if i went to see SD and it wasn't the amazing Steely dan. I assume it was a back of the house problem.?
we had missed the show in 74 because they cancelled. and we waited another 20 odd years to get the opportunity to see what was one of my favorite bands of all time. I went up with a bunch of friends/musicians and sat at the side of the hall towards the back. The sound was awfull and made worse because we got a sound reflection off the back wall about a second after we heard it the first time. Considering they were so particular and achieved such clarity and quality in their recordings we were hoping for a good live sound which we just didnt get.

Although it didnt really bother me, in that 20 odd years they had become far more jazzy/ if thats the right word, Walter played guitar, I cant remember if there was a second guitar, but we were hoping for some of those biting solos from the earlier albums, but it sounded more like jazz noodling to me than reelin in the years

It was extremely disappointing, and I guess we had built our expectations up to a level that would have been difficult to achieve.
