1. Hey all just recorded a track with my band Silhouettes - http://soundcloud.com/silhouettesuk/artificial-horizons The track is Artificial Horizons The bass is a dingwall afterburner II DI'd through a sansamp if you are wondering! Feedback would be great on mastering effects and etc! If you like it I would be forever grateful if you liked us on facebook - www.facebook.com/silhouettesuk Thanks all! Sam
2. I like it man! Sounds nice and original! Its so nice to see something that is a change from Metalcore which seems to be taking over the scene at the moment!
3. Using the basic ACS ones at the moment man!
4. It's got to the stage where I am looking to get some ear plugs impressioned as I no longer wish to use the better value (£20-£40) range due to the lack of clarity and comfort they provide. Looking for some good reccomendations on companies that do impressioned ear plugs; I've been having a look at ACS and ultimate ear but really need peoples first hand views on what they are like as there aren't any refunds on plugs! Also unsure about what is actually best for bassists, most plugs seem to be good for bassists frequency-wise, but reccomendations would be great! I'm willing to spend about £200 as long as they will last me a decent amount of time e.g. 2 years+? Any advice is welcome and appreciated Thanks!
5. Like niceguyhomer said, the build quality of the ABZ is worth the extra buck. I would recommend even just trying to save up that extra to the 2.1 grand mark because you can then upgrade to an AB2 which will weigh absolutely nothing just like your abz but have absolutely beautiful wood, finish and a better active tone. They are beautiful basses though!
6. At the end of the day, you don't NEED music theory, you will know what sounds good by ear and intuition if you practice enough. I don't think people should knock TAB so much, it gets alot of people starting out to play bass who will one day become great bass players, not everyone can afford a tutor. +1 to "these are music theories"

11. Hey all, Just looking for some peoples opinions and how they can fix a dilemma I have been having for a while; I write a hell of a lot of metal style music, I have aboslutely no problem churning out riff after riff and progression after progression, I write drums and guitar for it aswell. I've recently sort of found my unique sound for writing and am happy with it. However despite having many ideas I can't seem to structure them together to make a song I'm happy with. I'm a bit of a perfectionist but I just can't seem to grasp how to get ideas to link together and form something that sounds great rather than ideas clumped together. I've been seeking a second guitarist for a while to help me with writing as the one I have doesen't write, he just seems to be good at improving what I have already done haha. The bottom line is I want nice transitions rather than idea after idea. Anyone help? Cheers, Sam
12. Thank you for the advice guys! hugely helpful and I will tell you what I get in the end Cheers, Sam
13. Ahhh i see thats a pretty good idea! So did you put the cable ties through the washers on the back? You would reccomend just getting a 4U then based on your fan idea and removing the rubber bottoms? Cheers Sam
14. I'm looking to get a flight case for my SVT2-PRO Head and am trying to look at my options. I've narrowed it down to; - needing space for ventilation due to the intake through the left of the head - needing wheels (anyone who has one knows how heavy that son of a bitch is) - probably needing shockmounting for two reasons 1. for the ventilation it would give! 2. wanting the best protection for an expensive head! The problem I have is I'm not sure whether to go for 4U and take rubber mounts off or 6U for extra ventilation I'd really appreciate any advice people could give me on where to get a flightcase, If I'm missing out any information and whatever else people have to say! Cheers, Sam
15. strange and logical suggestion, but doing the old hairband round the neck trick is usually a great noise muter and can make your tapping much clearer, again overdubbing but thats all i can suggest!
16. Hi there, I'm a Reading local bassist specialising in Music Theory, Cross Rhythm / Polyrhythm Theory and Picking / Economy of Movement. I can also help you improve your slap and other basic fingerstyle techniques. I have been taught all I know about advanced rhythm by James Leach and Dan Foord of SikTh for a year and all my advanced Music Theory by James Clayton of The Arusha Accord. I charge £15 per hour and am willing to travel provided it is quite near Reading. Whether you are looking to learn about something new, get some chops exercises or develop as a player, I'm your man! Reply if this intrigues you! Cheers, Sam (P.S. I will get round to writing a polyrhythm article in the music theory section one day)
17. Sold a MXR Bass Distortion to this guy, paid straight away and communication was excellent! No problems at all! 10/10!
18. Here's a form, write the answer or score 1-10 What I purchased: Arrived in how many days: Packaging score: /10 Quality score: /10 Thank you! Sam
19. Thats fair enough, there maybe enough bands but you don't hear a huge amount of well known ones coming out of Reading
20. hahah clearly all us RG bass players need to unite!
21. Hmm Henleys confusing :/ Maybe I should have just said RG postcodes ha! Reading sure has changed alot from the sounds of things, hopefully more people will discover bass and more bands will be made! The metal scene in Reading is pretty big though a good few bands have come out from here. From the sounds of it the other scenes are getting quite big too! P.S. Being 18 doesen't mean your super strong aha! still weighs a hell of a lot!
22. hahaha! Sonning still has RG postcode so yeah! I agree, Reading needs more bassists so more lessons can be given!
