I used to be pretty active around here some years ago and ran a blog about effects etc... but I stepped away from bass after getting divorced and life getting messy. At that time, I sold my entire library of effects, including the WMD stuff (I used a Super FatMan from them as well).

This very thread will have more pedalboards of mine in it than I care to remember, but here is the big touring board I used with Our Helical Mind, and where the WMD stuff was a pretty critical part of the sound... It's a 2-tier board, so there are a load of other pedals you can't see that were controlled by the GigRig Quarter Master, or in the loop of other effects.

It looks cool, but try taking it on tour - it took 2 people to lift it (that board is 1.4m wide).

I ended up refining this set up and stripping it down to two smaller Diago boards that I linked together, which revolved around making due with fewer tones and using an Eventide Pitchfacter to replace a LOT of the pedals (that thing is insanely good).

We were just live drums and bass, so all the instrumentation that you hear is the bass, loading with effects. The Geiger counter was one of the core elements of all the distorted and synth tones (mixed with filters, modulation and pitch shifting etc).

ive got two. (The first is out on loan, not seen it for a while I should get it back!) the second is brand new, it’s quite a decent volume drop, I have tried different guitars basses and amps all with the same results 

If you google ‘Phase 90 Volume Drop’ I’m certain you’ll find discussion on it. I’ve got no direct experience. I just recall it being discussed a lot in the past.

Given the number of awesome phaser options, it might be worth just picking up a pedal that does the job for you, rather than trying to force an existing one to work. Or, before you mod it, maybe just pick up a loop pedal with volume control (LS-2 or one of the million other options) and use that to bring it up to level. It’ll give you a chance to play with it for a while and work out how loud you actually need it to be before you change its level gain and realise maybe you wanted a small boost or something.

The Phase 90 is pretty reputable for the volume drop - just a quirk of that older pedal design. IIRC it is something to do with the resistor on the output (I think it's 150k) and replacing it for a 180k is enough to level that out.

Also note that the very nature of a phaser makes it pretty hard for your ears to detect 'unity' gain, as such they tend to either sound a little quiet, or a little loud depending where in the phase sweep they are.

Indeed. This is a Pedaltrain Classic 2.

Refined set up for all things noisy/ambient/synthy.

Pretty happy with everything overall and it'll certainly do me for the current project...

The Vintage Microtubes isn't really my choice of OD sound (a bit too rock/metal) for the stuff I'm doing now, so I might swap that out some something a bit more ‘me’, however it does stack well with the Alpha Omicron. Also, the Xerograph is getting less use now that the Barbenera has taken prime spot for synth swells. It's a nice envelope filter, but it's not my favourite as a stand alone classic filter (that spot goes to the Subdecay Prometheus, which I miss very much!), so may be on the chopping block soon for something else.

I recently picked up a few reverbs while assembling my board for a new ambient project. I was fairly sure the Slö was going to be the ultimate winner for me in this quest, however it just got pipped by the Nuenaber Immerse. Ironically, the Slö officially has my favourite Reverb tone of all time, in the 'Dream' setting - that thing is glorious (even nicer than the famous Neunaber 'wet' tone IMO), but the Immerse does a little bit more and the stereo inputs have won out for recording purposes. I've tried to justify keeping both so I can still use that 'Dream' tone, but I need to be realistic - lots of other toys to buy.

This pedal has a range of reverbs, modulation waveforms and different latching/momentary functions, which all meld together to create some gorgeous textures.

This is in excellent condition, boxed, with all the goodies (bag, pick, sticker etc etc). I'm asking £150 posted in the UK (you're also welcome to collect in Derby and I'll knock off a fiver), or, I'm open to trades on anything odd and textural (but not another reverb) for use with my new ambient project - glitchy (though not overly aggressive), bit crush, crazy tremolo effects, oddness - I'll consider it all. TRADED

I'm partly tempted to keep it for other stuff - it's very unique and literally the only pedal of it's type in existence as far as I can tell.

It does a huge range of sounds that I love too, but it's so wild that shifting into different tones/remembering settings if you want to use it for different stuff is a bit complex. It's incredible, just not quite right for 'how' I want to use it... and there are a few other things on my shopping list it'll help pay for.

I'd be happy for you to have to back, if only to admire your moustache for a few more minutes

3. Octavia style gated fuzz: This is the spitty synthy at-pitch fuzz which produces an octave up when playing high up the neck. Has a gain, tone and level control (top three black knobs). Engaged with right footswitch.

4. Octave-down fuzz: this is basically like feeding the octaver into a fuzz in series. Has a level and tone control (lower two black knobs). Engaged with the right footswitch. 
 

The left and right side run in parallel.

So you get series and parallel signals together.

I've only had this for a short while, but I already know it's not the right fit for me. Honestly, this thing is INCREDIBLE, but it's just not fitting in place for the project I picked it up for.

Loads of buzz and videos online for anyone looking for a very different synth pedal that does a touch of OC2 octave tone, a touch of Moog FreqBox vibe and some crazy envelope swells. Utterly mad. The pedal is in great condition, as per pics.

I'd like back what I paid for it little more than a week ago - £175. The pedal can be collected in Derby, or posted in the UK for £5. SOLD!

Is the octave always parallel to the fuzz, or can they be routed in series? The marketing talk makes it sound like octave down fuzz is totally doable, rather than fizz alongside an octave down.

I actually emailed Source Audio with my needs too and their suggestion of which way to go. Their reply is somewhat confusing...

”the Spectrum would do a much closer Moog LPF impression with its 4-pole Low-pass filter.  The EQ2 isn't a resonant filter so it probably wouldn't sound very close to the Moog.”

The website clearly states that you can control the Q of each frequency band, and the sound samples are clearly resonant. Odd.

Have you seen a video/sound clip of it functioning in this manner anywhere? Would love to hear it with some fuzz and octave before it before taking a punt!

Question for those of you who have had hands on this...

Is it possible to use the Spectrum as a sweepable Low Pass Filter (adjusting the LPF cut-off frequency with the expression input). I've heard multiple clips of it tone shaping in the style of the Moog MF-101, but I'my eat to hear a demo of anyone using it for expression sweeps, like it commonly associated with the Moog LPF.

Can anyone comment on the functionality of that aspect, and most importantly, the tone?
