Safest is Bryant unless you can raise £15k get a Rodger Dawson bass...

If I was you... Bryant is you best bet... there isn't anything wrong with them... my buddy has just got another one and recorded a universal movie few weeks back... So... It did the job... I think he maybe selling his bigger Bryant but I will have to talk to him ! A panormo one sounds nice!

Only thing is "wrong" with my bass was -
The only thing Rodger Dawson and Sam said was you could use a file on the nut and a the fingerboard planed !! These instruments will serve you well... Just don't fret over it. The basses work

Electric bass****. As I was referencing an eletric bass guitar! Electric bass is to much of a toy and boring to play to me...

What are you wanting out of your practice?! Lets say better dexterity of left and right hand... Have an aim i.e harmonic major in all keys.... Do it from the lowest point if each key open E up to a d# on the g string jazz bass neck or the f# fret And think about how many ways you can get there I.e. 1 stri g. 2 string. 3 string 4 string you can even permutations of strings etc...

Think about what other scales you can run through like that 24th fret g string can give you a major blues scale in E...


I don't play bass anymore and probably am wrong but sort of stuff I was working on trying to incorporate scales with other scales not for improvisation but as a technical capability to have an idea of sounds and to experiment as much as possible and not care if it sounds like crap... You're in the practice room it's meant to be crap at first lol...
Also look at scales as a technique of understanding the bass

I'd comment and say quiver... ignore other peoples experience.

If you are worried about the expense then wait for a used one to come up.

Lift weights and protein shakes repair the worn muscle and make some bass gainz

Practice intonation, hand shape and pitch... If its any interest to you to learn the art of the bow... do that too.. Experiment and get a tutor. I can not stress any of this enough....

If your bridge has been knocked over, you may want to check to see if the sound post is in the right position by a professional.
To save any unnecessary damage. As the pressure from 4 strings is pushing down onto the bass and all that is supporting it is a cylinder of around inch in diameter. I may have a case for sale its a Tom and will case with no wheels and the straps have been taken off and put in the back of the case. its a "used" case but still very useable

Bryants are under 4k handmade - but don't quote me on that... But price mainly depends on hardware and strings...
A good bass will make your sound improve dramatically and you won't have to pay for any major set ups... Go home on trial and play it


You can get everything else later... I think a good bass is more important than gear...
