1.
The Kemper has the pitchshift built in? That's cool. I use a Eventide Pitchfactor to play in C at the mo.
They are saying at the moment ... On the Kemper forum ... that the Kemper tracks and is as good as the Eventide Pitch factor ... I can't comment on this as I've not owned the pedal ... But I played drop C tuning on a standard tuned guitar Saturday with no bother. The new bass rigs they added to the firmware update do sound great too .... 26 new rigs in total I believe ... Something for everyone 👍
 2. Just to update this .... Gigged the Kemper powerhead tonight and I have to say it was awesome .... One of the best sounds I've ever had ... And I've been playing live a while.. I played safe used one of the Ampeg SVT patches ... From the recent update tonight and stuck with it ... As I haven't had much time to tinker with sounds this week... Loved it .. I did use the pitch shifter though and was blown away by how good it sounded ... We play QOSA ...No One Knows ... In drop C tuning and it sounded great ... So that one less guitar I have to carry ... I'm glad I bought this ... I know it cost a lot of money ... But I'm really glad I bought it ... If your thinking about buying it ... Definately ndo it 👍
 3.
But what do you mean by "best"? And how does the Kempler fit into that expectation?
Best bass sound is deep punchy sits well in the mix ....and you can feel it hitting you in the guts .... not wooly .... milky or fluffy... If the Kemper can exactly replicate an Ampeg SVT classic and is about about the 20th of the weight .... I`ll be very happy.
 4.
The difference in sound quality between the pedal and the effects preamp is negligible on stage...particularly when the core objective on stage is simply to hear what pitch I'm playing.
I do understand and get what you are saying .... But I guess the point im trying to make is ..... for me .... part of the fun and appeal of playing music live .... is playing through quality gear and trying to get the best sound I possibly can on stage ..... i understand it is expensive .... but if i get a few years gigs out of it its paid for itself .... My in ear monitors were expensive .... But i would never play a gig without them now ...they are that good. Reading reviews ... If I want an Ampeg svt CL sound or even a Dr Z mini combo .... I can have exactly that in a light portable rig .... the possibilities with this thing seem endless. I havent tried it yet though ... so i will wait and see lol
 5. The one thing that did worry me about using it live .... was it`s output going through two 8ohm bass cabs .... and if it is properly designed to run at 4ohms at gig volume. 3/4 of our band are currently using in ears though and are currently putting pressure on the guitarist to join us.
I've tended to see the kempler as purely a studio tool rather than for live use. As amazing as the Kempler is, unless you are playing pub gigs without FOH support (and in all honesty, why would anyone bring a Kempler to a pub gig if the punters won't appreciate the difference) changing amp settings between songs is going to drive any sound engineer nuts. Plus you'll sound awful through the FOH until the engineer has compensated for any changes in eq as a result of changing the settings. Plugging the kempler into another (coloured) bass amp doesn't make sense either. In order to get the best out of it the whole signal chain needs to be as transparent as possible - you might as well purchase a PA system and run that into bass cabs...or a complete Warwick Hellborg backline (pre/power and cabs). <Asbestos coat>: ON
We always mic everything and go through FOH ... even in small pubs... and it will obviously take a bit of tweaking to get the profiles level in sound output .... but thats no biggy it was the same thing when our guitarist started using the AXE FX.... or even myself using Jam up or Bias As for the punters not not appreciating the difference .... I know that potentially i can put out a bass sound thats as good as anybodys out there ..not saying my playing is as good as anybodys out there mind... and that makes me feel good ... Part of it for any gigging musician .... must be about playing through the best gear.. We practice hard ...gig alot .... the cost of this thing will be covered in a few months ... so why not.
 6.
This is the route I'm thinking of going down, powered kemper into a barefaced big baby 2! Interested to hear how it sounds at the gig
I've actually been gigging 2 or 3 gigs most weekends for the last 4/5 months ....using an Alesis IO Dock with an IPad using Jam up pro and Bias .... Then using the power amp return of my TC Classic head ... Into RS 210 and RS 212 cabs ...it's very portable ....And it sounds awesome. But due to us gigging so much .... It's only a matter of time before the iPad gets dropped or stood on .... And I know that is going to pee me off. I love the flexibility of the different amps I'm able to use thoughout each gig .... And I love the idea of being able to do this with the Kemper whilst in it's carry case .... being a bit more gig resistant. I have an all tube Markbass classic300 that I can't wait to profile as it has great tone .... But is a bit of a slog for my old bones carrying up and down steps at gigs. I'm hoping the Kemper is going to be light and just plug and play. Just got to find great profiles .... So a bass bash may well be in order 👍
 7. Ive ordered a new Powered Kemper from Thomann and should be here on Wednesday.... Can any of you point me out to some great bass profiles out there for free or otherwise that I can try when I get it? I'm hopefully looking to gig it this weekend ... So may not have too much time to tinker before then ... So kind of looking for a head start. I play classic to heavy rock with a Streamer stage 2 and musicman Bongo. Thanks in advance.
 8. Does anyone have any idea as to when these may get released? .... Seems the release date keeps getting put back all the time.
 9.
I'm surprised so many people have found their TC's to be quiet. My BG500 is ridiculously loud, I've never had it past 3 (9.30pm on the volume at pub gigs and no need to DI it. I'm really enjoying using it.
I did play a gig once just using the classic 450 head and just a RS 210 cab and it was underpowered in a Rockband situation ... Add an RS 212 cab to that and it's plenty loud enough With lots of headroom 🙋
 10.
I'd be interested to know the size of the test group of amps from each manufacture the OP has tested before he came to the conclusion that he can definitively declare that MB are unreliable. If that sample is less than 10 from each manufacturer what he's saying is, in its self, unreliable. IMHO. of course
Was just making a statement as I do prefer the sound.... of the TC... Plus i have had TWO newish Markbass cmd102p`s bite the dust on me during gigs.... thank god they were still under warranty Im also sorry for spelling DEFINITELY wrong in the title
 11.
Gear4music's expected delivery 1st December! What's up with that? Bought from USA Amazon instead. 8-12 days delivery but even with import duty, doesn't work out too much more.
It's mad that you can get something from America made by a German company quicker and with less hassle than you can over here. Good luck with it though dude ... I think they are good investments and a lot cheaper than the alternatives too.
 12.
I'm glad to hear it worked out for you. I too have 1964 in-ears and was thinking about the P1 as a headphone amp, so will will heed the advice. BTW, where did you order the P1 from? Don't see it available anywhere ATM.
I ordered mine from Thomann ... It was showing as out of stock but they were giving a date as to when they would have them available ... So I just ordered one as I too struggled to find one with a British supplier ... Thomann did actually send it out to me a few days before the date they stated too which was great.... And with a three year warranty you can't really go wrong
 13. Well I used the Powerplay P1 again last and after a bit of tinkering with the desk ... I managed to get pretty good results. As was mentioned yesterday .... If the signal is too hot coming out of the desk this thing will clip crackle and pop and be unusable .... Turn the signal down from the desk though and it works great .... In fact we had barely anything coming into it from the desk at all which I was surprised at ... But it was still plenty loud enough in my In ears. I understand the limiter on this thing in principle is a good idea for protecting your ears .... But if the signal coming into the Powerplay P1 is too strong it becomes unusable ..... Which is worth thinking about when setting it up to play live. I was happy with it last night to be fair.
 14.
might be worth trying them out in a practise situation before taking it into a live situation, to tweak out any issues. You could try using your drummers IEM system, to set up your feed, then swap over and see if it changes with your set up? What controls does it have on there? volume, mono / stereo & panning? EDIT: Might also be worth checking all the cables and connections are solid, as crackling is a common side effect to damaged / worn cables, or loose jacks. Or send it back and ask for a replacement to see if the problem still persists.
Im gigging tonight and I was going to do exactly as you say and try the drummers feed and see if that works any better... Its difficult for us to try and work this out in a practice situation as we do cary alot of gear at gigs ...large bass bins with tops ...our drummer is using triggers on everything now too ... so im pretty limited to trying it just in the soundcheck at gigs... The Powerplay unit itself has simple controls ...2 XLR inputs, Volume, Pan, Mono/Stereo and headphone out... and a built in limiter to protect your ears. I have read some where that Behringer micro amps like the HA400 dont like the signal being to hot going into them .... so im hoping that this is the case with the Powerplay and I can just turn everything down on the desk going into it..... Perhaps the limiter was kicking in or something ...I`ll try it tonight.
 15. Still using TC stuff every weekend in a rock covers band..... still sounds awesome .... The RS210 and 212 cabs are light and loud with a great tone ....and more importantly are reliable ... unlike some markbass gear ive had in the past.
 16. Desk is a Mackie 1604-vlz3 Output is via XOR from the aux4 out.
 17. Hi all ... Have decided to go down the custom IEM route and bought myself a pair of 1964 QI's.... The fit and sound awesome listening to music ... Cancel out all external noise ... I'm chuffed to bits with them. These were bought to play music in a live situation in a heavy rock band in conjunction with a Powerplay P1 personal in ear amplifier. Gig time came last weekend and I ran a desk feed into the powerplay into my in ears ..... With very poor results ... With plenty of tinkering my band mates getting bored and the pub filling up ... We just couldn't get a good mix to my in ears. Everything was making a crackling noise and sounding distorted ... So impossible to use. No instruments seemed to be peaking the desk and it's worth mentioning our drummer plays with in ears too and his mix is fine. The Powerplay has an in built noise limiter ...is it anything to do with that or am I missing something? Thanks in advance, Sean.
 18. Yes TC head with RS 210 and Rs212 cabs .... I believe are the way to go .... Much better in my opinion than the Markbass gear I have owned in the past ... Namely CMD 102P combo and NY ext cab . Haven't tried the GK stuff though. TC just sounds better in our band situation.
 19. Oh thats interesting ... thought the floor tuner would be more accurate
 20. Yeah thanks for that .... I just tested it now actually .... and what is showing as in tune on my harware pedal ....but .... is not showing as being in tune on Jam up .... not miles out .... but i have noticed it on times while playing live ... I guess something to be wary of.
 21. I have been gigging with Jam up pro through an Alesis IO Dock for a while now...... Just recently the in built tuner on Jam up pro doesnt appear to be very accurate .... so much so ive started using a pedal tuner now live .... has anyone else noticed this .... or is there even a fix for it? Cheers
