1. More pix added here: Visit My Website

Yeh, it is on evilbay, as well. I'd rather sell it to members here, as I f***ing hate ebay.

Another thing about the bass is that it the scratchplate looks like it has shrunk, just like the oldies did, ie, it doesn't quite match the outer perimiter of the control plate. Nice touch.

  2.
Bravewood looks nice :)

I'm not sure I understand the logos etc - is it a Bravewood made neck with a Fender logo or a Fender neck that's been worked on by Bravewood?

Wouldn't bother me either way - just curious!
The logos were added. None of this bass was constructed from Fender parts.

  3.
On teh Bravewood, what is 9.5 relicing? Does that mean it looks 9.5 out of 10 perfect?
What is the neck profile like?

Also it woud be really good if you could d a gallery like this guy does...

30 or so very high definition pics.
Load them up on webshots or another freee gallery and link to it from here or your ebay listing.
    That will help people decide.

I'd like pictures of it with the covers off, please.
Sure. Those I took were just quickies, to attarct interest. I'll take some better ones later on but they won't be up until tonight, so I'll bump this thread when they are ready. 9/10 means not much. A light finish, some sanding on neck and a few dunts. to which I have added, but not much. The neck profile is not like my vintage jazzes; it's more modern.

  4.
Ball park price on the Bravewood please
    ..and where are you?
    Thanks
Well, she cost me £889 back then. I know that doesn't mean much in the 2nd hand market - things can go either way - but I need to find £1300 to cover the new purchases. That's why those three are up for a punt. I dunno, mate, make me an offer. I need to do more pix, as well, so if anyone's genuiniely interested they can PM me.

BTW, I'm in East Lothian, Scotland.

  5. Hi, there.

I'm thinking of selling a few geetars to cover cost of two recent additions and I may float the following on ebay, but would rather offer them here, first.

Go here and have a look at them. Only two pix each, just now; ignore the Ricks.

The Bravewood is a 2003 model - can't really mind - and John built it for me to my specs. It's based on my old '64 jazz but with the stack pots and a slightly wider nut width than a Jazz normally has, around 1 5/8ths of an inch. The neck has a 9.5 relicing along with the body, although there have been a few dings on the way. Matching headstock with tall, rivetted Kluson-typre reverse gear tuners (which have tarnished up nicely!), rosewood board with clay dot markers. I'm not sure what the side markers are; they may have been maple but I can't be sure. Pickups are Voodoo and are very punchy, so not a vintage tone. Comes with an AXL-type case. The pup and bridge covers were added only recently. The stack knobs are a re-issue and as such the tone control is not incremented like the original ones!!

The Squier fretless is about 18 months old and is still a current model. I took off the factory hardware and replaced it all with gold. The Pots have knobs with MOP caps and the bridge is a nice, heavy Gotoh-style replacement. This one has the lined, ebonol 'board and I have flats on it - just for something different - and it sounds cool, Duncan Designed coils on board. No additional drilling done, other than maybe under the bridge.

I'll accept offers on both but please bear in mind that Bravewood don't build any more. Not that I know of, anyway.

Finally, I know there are people out there who do not like john's instruments and they are entitled to their opinion. However, please don't post on this thread picking faults in them.

I've also got 2006 Gretsch 6122-II Country Gent for sale, the one with the open F holes and 18th fret neck join.

    Cheers,

    Stacker.
