Yep, I linked Bass Direct up with Lonnie West (LHZ) and persuaded Mark to bring some of his preamps (& pedal version) for the UK market. Bought 3 for myself too!

That’s great news! Seen nothing but praise for Lonnies preamps on the various Spector groups and pages.

  2. I see Bass Direct are now stocking HAZ clone preamps, as onboard or pedal option. Might be tempted. The preamp in my NS2000 is fudged, so an option is to put the HAZ clone in my Euro LX and then put the tonepump from that bass into my NS2000.

  3. I had lots of class d’s before going back to heavy amps. The one I kept much longer than any of the others was the GK MB Fusion.  They are super little amps. Mine was the 500, not sure if the 800 is any different tonally.

  4. What surprises me,is  that James Lomenzo is in that video, with the pedal, why not get him to demo it and show how his settings actually sound. I always thought his demo of the Hyperdrive was really good, showing how he gets just a hint of drive to full on distortion. Ashdown, please just send one to Amos Heller so we can get a proper demo of it, put us out of our misery!

As someone who shreds as much as he tends to do I wonder how come Billy Sheehan went for a 21 and not 24 fret neck on his signature bass, yet even having bothered upping for the last 5 frets being scalloped under the upper strings.

I can only assume that it’s because the neck dimensions are based on the neck from his P bass that he used for decades.

I started a thread about this pedal last year and we still haven't seen any demos!

Funnily enough after starting this thread, I stumbled across your thread. I had no idea this pedal had been announced back last year!

  7. I tried one out and it quite liked it. I actually preferred it with just a small amount of drive, and all the way to the left on the alpha side. I ended up buying a second hand X Ultra instead as I liked the option to have the filters to fine tune the drive. Eventually sold that, I still have a Vintage Microtubes on my board but rarely use it tbh. For my drive tones now I either use the Lomenzo Hyperdrive or EBS Sheehan sig pedal. If I were to go back to DG for a pedal to use all the time, the AO would be my choice

    I returned mine to Amazon.

I’ve since replaced the sets in question with EB cobalts. I’ll definitely give DR’s another go and should the same issue occur, I’ll def take the same route and send them back to Amazon

  9. I love DR’s but my last two sets of hi beams (both bought from Amazon) have had the same issue. E string dead within about 4 weeks. I emailed DR to inform them, they said they’d send me a couple of E strings but it never happened. Shame really, as I really like their strings

  10. I guess when you post videos to YouTube, it’s such a vast audience that you’re bound to get someone who doesn’t like your content. I don’t mind Tims reviews and videos, he’s enthusiastic and he can play. In my case, it’s definitely true that now I’ve noticed the gurning I can’t not see it, but at least he’s having fun! Amos Heller is one of my favourite YouTubers, I like his demos and reviews

I quite like his demos, some of the driven sounds are a bit much for me but I like to see the bass lines played, nice to see complicated lines played both so effortlessly and with such enthusiasm. Annoyingly after reading this thread I’m sure all I’ll notice forever onwards will be the gurning….

    Apologies for that Lozz 😄

I'd concur about Tim Starace, at least.  I'm sure he's a nice enough chap, but his whole 'career' seems to be pretty much off standing on the shoulders of a giant.  I find his gurning while playing somewhat off-putting as well.

'Yeah mate, we know you can play those lines, but you didn't actually write those lines, now did ya now, eh?'

Once you notice the gurning and mouth noises, you can’t watch his videos without focusing on it 😂 As you say, im sure he’s a very nice guy, I’d just prefer to see someone else demo it, he works for Tech21 so he’s not exactly unbiased

Used in anger last night for an audition with a new Post Punk/Dark Wave project. Wow... it sounded awesome!

Yamaha BBPH through EBS BS Deluxe and a Boss CE5. Perfect, the band thought it sounded brilliant and I was offered the spot. Very happy with myself.

Congrats on the new gig! I used my Spector Euro, also through a EBS Sheehan sig pedal, the GK, and into a Barefaced Big Twin 2. Sounded immense. These Fusion 550’s really are superb
