SpectraDrive Preamp Pedal Review - are you keen on this pedal?
greghagger replied to greghagger's topic in Effects
I certainly will, thanks. But I am certainly interested in any fresh comments. I must have been pretty near the front of the queue too I think as had to pre-order.- 22 replies

Here is my video demo of the TC Electronics SpectraDrive pedal. There is so much in this pedal - Eq, Drive, Compression, TonePrints, DI, mp3 Line in, etc. I take this pedal everywhere, and it’s especially useful when plugging straight into a PA. Check out my review and see what you think. Please comment and share with anyone who might be interested.

Here is one of my short Bass Technical Exercises. This one is based on Broken Chords or Arpeggios. It’s a little tricky to get your fingers around. In the lesson, I also talk about how to create short exercises to help you learn tricky parts of basslines. I am constantly learning new material for my freelance work, and this is what I do when I find a particular section of a bassline difficult. Have a look and I would love to hear how you get on. https://youtu.be/Jtfy5MPreZI

Here is my video review of the excellent Kaka U-Bass or Uke-Bass. You need one of these! They are so versatile and you won’t believe the sound when they are plugged in. You can hear me play my U-Bass acoustically and plugged in. This unique instrument is well worth checking out. https://youtu.be/fnSdJjwvXDU

A few of you recently have been asking about arpeggios and how to learn them. This next video of mine looks at Major and Minor arpeggios with their inversions. Really handy to help understand how basslines are constructed as arpeggios are one of the most common building blocks of basslines. It should be a very accessible guide with clear instructions. There is a PDF to accompany the lesson with notes and tab. Click the description of the video to download this. Let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/GA_GcIZyd1k

Hey I have done a short vlog of my recent gig on bass at the Albert Hall, London playing the soundtrack from ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’. The music was written by Vince Guaraldi and is a fantastic soundtrack. I talk briefly through my gear and there is a small amount of footage from the soundcheck and gig. Let me know what you think. https://youtu.be/55D0X-_5TAU

Hi Stevie thanks for your input as it’s always good to get personal opinions. So my point at the beginning of the video is about engaging the pads of the fingers and getting your power from the top knuckle. Of course you have some bend from each knuckle but the principle is not to have really bent fingers so you end up using the tips of your fingers. Hopefully that’s cleared up the confusion. If you watch the video from about 3.15 on the close-up you will see what I mean about using the pads of your fingers. Maybe I’ll put some text on the video saying something like ‘a little bending won’t harm your technique but don’t have really hooked fingers’😂 Glad you think it’s great I’m putting lessons online and thanks again👍🏻

Here is a project I completed using ‘ready-made’ parts to put together a Tele Bass. I finished the body & neck with Wudtone which was a really interesting process for someone like me who isn’t experienced with staining, finishing or in fact working with wood. All respect to the builders on here who start from scratch. I take my hat off to you! For the novice or anyone interested in Wudtone, check out the video https://youtu.be/Bm9mijSt20A
