That Anniversary looks pretty convincing. The bridge kinda makes me think of the Hipshot replacement bridge for Rics. The bridge pickup cover looks tinny and fragile though, like it will bend as soon as you rest your wrist on it for pick playing.

I've played the Italia exclusively during the last The Bullfight-gig and it rumbles like no other through my Ashdown. I had my Rickenbacker (which costs more than four times as much) with me as well but in the end I just kept it as a backup and didn't play it.

I currently have two at home
I got a second one today, a 1983 MC924L, the second model with bevelled body edges and PJ-configuration and different control layout. It also has the bridge placed further back towards the edge of the body so the neckjoint is at the 17th fret instead of the 18th, and the headstock is slightly smaller. It has more battle scars than the average Vietnam veteran and the active electronics and the bridge pickup do not work at the moment, but even with just the massive splitcoil played passive it sounds amazing and big! I'm having my luthier look at the electronics but I'm leaving the damaged finish the way it is.

I've been amazed by prices some EBMM's go for on the British secondhand market. I saw some Sterlings sell for 700 pounds, which is about 800 euros, whereas they generally sell for about 1100-1200 euros on the Dutch market. I myself got a killer deal on a Stingray 5 from the UK recently. It may well be worthwhile to advertise your Stingray on leftybass.com too, I sold my G&L SB-2 there in no-time (within two hours!).

I have a broad taste. For Fender- or MM-style instruments, I love black with a black 3-ply pickguard and maple board or white with a black 3-ply pickguard. I think white also looks great with dark-stained fingerboards like rosewood or ebony. I love a nice transparent finish too though. Up until two years ago, I would have preferred transparent finishes anytime but my taste has shifted

On basses without pickguards, I usually prefer a transparent finish (preferably natural) so the wood really shines.

This is tempting, but I really don't need it right now having just bought an SR5 and still owning three ATK's (of which I'm probably selling one fourstring in the near future though). I will keep an eye on this though!

If this is really selling for 250, someone's having a killer deal here. E-series era MIJ Fenders are great instruments. They were the first all-Japanese-made series after the JV (which had USA-made hardware and electronics) and the SQ-series (which also had some USA-made parts). I have a Strat from that era and wouldn't even THINK about selling it. Great instrument, it feels like coming home every time I play it.

Damn you and your StingRays, just bought an SR5 and still have three ATK's so I really don't need one, but otherwise I'd be seriously tempted by that black one (I feel a StingRay should have a maple board, and I've come to love black on black)

Beautiful, I always love that colour combination and that neck looks amazing. One of the prettiest Stingrays I've seen.

Seems to me you'd be better off buying a used California PM. All in all, this project could turn out pretty expensive.

Looks cool! I love the idea of sticking a maple Jazz neck to a dreadnought body too, though I feel the blocks and bindings are a little posh for an acoustic.

I like the vintage details - slab body, old bridge style with mutes and strings through body, classic logo. I read they're even considering going back to a metal battery cover on these. Nice touches. I absolutely love the Sea Foam Green too. I don't think I would buy one though, even if they came in a lefty version. I like the regular Stingray 4. If that will come in Sea Foam Green too, I'm sure it will sell better than this one.

The current TB48's don't have the proper T Bird-construction. They have an alder body and a one piece maple set neck instead of the 9-piece laminated mahogany and walnut neck. But they're nice basses and they definitely have the looks and sound cool.
