1. I love mine, and realistically would never want to sell it. I play it so much now that what has been a mint fretboard for 30 years is now showing wear. Its cool though, all wear from me... and all 3rd to 5 frets just coming through the lacquer.

  2. Not only is 'Mr Krispn' a thoroughly good chap, but I can vouch for the bass too! Super nice finish, plays really well and with fantastic sound to boot (personally love the Will Power). I'd buy it if I didn't need to buy me an amp... as much as I like borrowing that Trace combo in the vid :D

  3. We know the boxes are different. So, the combos sound different. I'd love to fire each head through the same cab though, or at least an HB or RS against the Ibby. Also, is there anywhere you can just buy these as single Beta Alvin units, without the added mark-up of the re-brand?

  4. I think it'd cost more to produce the amps with different stuff? Like, the cost of setting up another production line as it were, to utilise components that don't seem to be significantly cost saving? Fair enough regards a branded neutrik. It seems weird that they'd install a different pre-amp to cut costs, when in component terms there would surely only be pennies in it - pennies that they don't mind spending on extra pots? I dunno, all naive conjecture.

The 'methean had a pre-amp based on that of the Markbass Little Mark.

Which Beta Alvin developed, but didn't install into the other amps for fear of Ibanez maybe getting a bit annoyed?

the differences in the Promethean's amp should (in theory) make it a nicer sounding head when used with a bigger or higher quality cab.

Sorry, but what are the differences?

  7. I've tried to follow this as best I can but am I right in saying the RS/HB/Ibanez amplifier heads are physically the same? Could the difference in sound be wholly down to, perhaps the dimensions of the cabinet, that aren't as optimally designed? Did we decide if the drivers are the same too? Just trying to decide whether these subtle, and at first seemingly insignificant details, could make the Ibanez an all-round better buy, in the long term.

  8. I've got a 100% original one, in about as mint condition as one could hope to get. Some rust on the screws, and some light fret wear. Not got the case. I reckon in today's climate i'd ask for ~£1000, for a quick sale, realistically.

  9. I've had some interest, and as such it is worthwhile that I extend the offer of overseas shipping to everyone else. I can get good prices with TNT, UPS or FedEx through my work - roughly 50% less than the retail price. I can include compensation in the price too. So, this will be tracked, signed for and insured. This applies for the UK too - UPS next day with compensation, in an old wooden hardcase (maybe worth £20 alone!) for £250.

Oh, and you can collect it from me too! :D

  10. I'll be ordering myself the HB take on this wee thing. It should do pretty much any gig with some relative PA support :) I am, however, intrigued by the cabs, I noticed a 410 on the Beta site, amongst other bits of kit... what to do.

Isn`t that always the way with Fender`s when they change things? There always seemed to be a year or so when they made major changes to a bass, when the 2 specs sort of appeared side by side.

Thats how I see it, a sort of facelift 1.5 kind of thing. Only trouble I have with it is the price and condition. Presuming someone buying this would be wanting to make an investment of sorts, that kind of condition just doesn't cut the mustard. Looks cool though, and it'd be a great gigging bass and what not, but then i'd expect the price to reflect it. If the guy didn't have past bad rep then i'd not be quite so cynical. End of the day its worth what someone will pay, and whether or not the seller deserves to get the top price is debatable.

  12. As promised, some pictures. They all detail, despite being from my mobile phone, the few cosmtics things.

The only thing I couldn't capture were few little dents in the neck. Not got a clue how they got there, they don't affect playing, but they are noticeable under hand. Not sure this pic will detail anything:

The ding on the bottom edge, some cracked lacquer and through the paint a little:

This picture shows the IQ of the previosu owner. I mean... what was he thinking!?

    Ding on the horn:

The only ding on the neck that is noticeable, again it is very slight.

You'll notice despite the last guy having bought this a couple of years ago, this is an 03/04 model year bass.

And there we have it. I'd suggest the bass should be properly set-up. It sounds and plays great to me, but I just chucked the Thomastik flats on without adjusting anything else.

If we can't meet up I will ship anywhere in the UK in an old hardcase. You can ship the case back to me... with your bass in it? Cool.

    Jamie.

  13. Hello folks,

Okay, so I am pretty broke but that doesn't stop me from wanting another P-Bass. I'm currently still loving my '78 P, but I'm hankering for something considerably cheaper and lighter for pub gigs 'n stuff.

I've only got my Mexican Jazz Bass in ICE BLUE (?) NOT LAKE PLACID BLUE (?) [s]to trade on. I don't have any money, and would rather not sell because I know i'd use the funds on something boring like food. So, strictly trade. [/s]Amp GAS... so, sell it must.

The bass has hardly been used (bought by PO in 2010), but this doesn't stop it from having a couple of dings thanks to the previous owner. Don't have the bass in front of me at the moment, but I recall a couple of small dings on the body, a HOLE were the fanny that owned it last decided to relocate the strap lock to, and a small ding in the neck. I have virtually new Thomastik Infeld Flats on it. It plays really nicely, and sounds... like a jazz bass with flats?

Will fire some pics up tonight.

    Cheers
    Jamie.

  14. Would these breach eBay's copyright or replica rules? It is a bit of a strange one, he is being up front enough. He is also fully aware that a majority of folks just want something that looks like a Fender, how 'wrong' this is, is entirely subjective. The problem comes, as people have already said, when it is sold on... as a Fender. If you can't sell something that looks like a Rickenbacker, even though you never even use the word to describe it, I can't see how this act is so different?
