Not been aware of Mattisson before. Really nice looking basses.

Good colours too! Wonder what the EU price is going to be?

I've been watching this & the 79 fretted Ray (which is no longer for sale).
Dave's been unwell and is parting company with a few instruments, but keeping some favourites.
I'd love that fretless Ray....anyone wanna buy a kidney?
Not sure either of my kidney's is worth £1500. It was the bass on Joan Armatrading's "Willow" that first got me interested in fretless. I guess there's a good chance it was this very instrument.

Anybody else notice that uber session player Dave Markee is selling his rather unusual (and rather lovely) pre-EB fretlessStingray?
His session CV reads: Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa, Joan Armatrading, The Who, Henry Mancini, and Bing Crosby, and he was in Eric Clapton’s band from September 1979 to 1982.
If only I had £1500 to spend on a random bass.

There's really no doubt about this....If I won the lottery, and this bass were still for sale, it would be my very first lottery funded purchase.

Bought my NS Design CR4 from Barry at the old Wapping store. Still using it very regularly. So sad that Barry had to close The Bass Centre as a on-street retail outlet. It's was a genuine Mecca for bass players. Always full of lovey and fascinating instruments.

The other thing I'd be looking at is the neck profile. It looks like a box with rounded-off corners. Will that work for bass?
My old fretless Status Electro (that I actually rather miss) had a similarly flat neck profile. I really liked it.

Wow! That's some of the most beautiful and skilled lutherie I've seen for a while. A Rob Allen style bass (fretless, no lines!) made in the same style would be amazing.

Thanks all for the thoughts on this.

Morning all (unless of course you're reading this at an alternative time of day or night...)
I'm thinking of downsizing from my Mark Bass CMD 121H to something smaller and lighter and was wondering about the Ibanez Promethean P3110. I've not tried a Promethean but I've seen a few and they look pretty cool. Folk always seem to speak well of them too. So does anybody here have any direct experience they can share?

I just heard that the brother of a friend plays in, "Genesisn't".

Fretless? Me? Nah, never even seen one, let alone ever played one. 🙂
Saw you so long ago in Bruford (the double bill with Brand X) Jeff that it's truly scary.
Greetings

Cort making use of the Ibby SRH template there. Well, they probably make them for Ibanez anyway, so why not?
Yeah I wondered if it was related to the Ibby SRH but having had a quick look on the Ibby website I suspect not. The Ibby has a forearm contour that's missing on the Cort and the body shapes are generally different too. I payed an Ibby SRH at GAK a while ago - it was really lovely, if a bit of a one trick pony.

PS. Speaking of Ibby, I've just noticed they've introduced their take on the NS Omnibass. I quite want one of those too: http://www.ibanez.com/products/eb_detail18.php?year=2018&area_id=3&cat_id=2&series_id=54&data_id=183&color=CL01

I've always had a soft spot for fretless, thin-line style mag/piezo instruments and I've owned quite a few over the years (Status, Manne, Veillette, Fender, Yamaha), and now I've gone and spotted this from Cort and I'm a bit smitten:
I need help.

Still wonder why they didn't just allow it to be removed properly.
Because products like these are costed down to the last penny. They have to be to make the business viable – manufacturing and selling things is really tough.

So here's a thing....
When Ibanez launched the entry-level Talman range a couple of years back, I loved the look, especially the mint green one, but thought it was crying out for a maple fingerboard. And what do you know...

If only I had £180 down the back of the sofa.

I had a pair of L2s, fretted and fretless, not all that long ago. Utterly brilliant basses and I wish I still had them.

That may well be the best looking instrument that Basses For Sale has ever played host to. Discuss.

What a gorgeous bass!

I'm sure the the ACG Retro B is lovely, but it is surely somewhat ironic that the only reply on a thread entitled, "What's new and interesting" links to a bass that's, effectively, old and derivative :-)

Everybody's forgotten my favourite - Yamaha BEX4

Errrrm, 34 years.

Try Marcello Nardelli. He made and finished the body for my Surf Jag so I'd imagine he'll be very happy to do a Daphne blue jazz body.
You'll find him here: nardellibass.com or via his ebay shop: nrdbass.

Seems to me that one was originally fretted. Original fretless would I think have had an ebony 'board and no dots. What do you think @TrevorR? Really lovely bass either way.
