I could be wrong but I don’t think there’s a text size setting on bc , are you able to do it in your device settings 🙂

I just tried setting default text size bigger but it only makes the browser address window text goofy big and does nothing to the forum.

  2. I figured out the skinny orange line shows the start of new posts in a thread. I can't find a navigation button to go there or any option in my user settings for opening to that point automatically.

I am also struggling with the text sizing and lack of contrast appropriate settings in general so that may be why I haven't found the settings???

Basschat is the only place on the 'net that I just about need reading glasses to read.

But it sounds great to my ear, and given the cost I would have to shell out on new gear, just to run the subs I think the best option is probably just to stick with it for now.

Plan. It sounds good, keep practicing.

You are looking at a complete do over of your system to get a proper biamp out of speakers that are less than ìdeal. You might be better trading out of it wholesale as a going concern.

  4. I am partial to Trace Eliot's dual scheme that can hold down the low wobbles as much as you like while leaving the mids and highs alone, or bring in the high band as you please.

It's so good they carried it through to the new Transit-B at the cost of a much bigger pedal than it would have been without.

Thank you, I also need to change the speakon 1/4 combo socket for the 810 as it will only power all 8 speakers when using 1/4 jack not speakon. It is soldered to a pcb. I’ve ordered the correct sockets for a vertical pcb mount and I’m assuming that I melt the solder on the rear of the pcb to remove the socket then mount the new one and resolder similar to mounting the leds in the GB.
I was thinking of removing the options of the pcb and switching to 2 x 410 or 810and just having one speakon socket to power all 8 speakers with one of the speakon 4 pole sockets with the screw terminals for ease. There are 2 wires going to to the pcb from each set of 4 speakers. Obviously + & —. Would I wire both sets of positive to the 1+ and both negatives to 1–, leaving 2+ and 2– unused? Or would I use 1+ and 1– for one set of speakers and 2+ and 2– for the other set?

If I was you I would pull the whole shebang and wire +1 -1 , a regular push on speakon on a new dish plate.

Your plan to only replace the speakon won't do anything without rejiggering the pcb, which is more likely to result in a pile of scrap if you are lucky or blow your amp up if not.

I've been struggling to figure out what the point of this box is. I can't think of many amps modern enough to use Speakons that don't also have a DI output already. And when would it be useful to take a headphone output from the speaker signal without muting the speaker?

If your cab is in an iso box or the next room you might want to hear what you're sending.

But it's still a magic smoke release tool when applied to most of your class D amps.

  7. The baby size Ampeg tube amps can run without a cab with their internal power soak, turning them into oversize power tube overdriving ''pre'amps''. Use the Fender for powering the cabs. Use baby Ampeg solo at rehearsals.

Also important is an amp that can keep its overall balanced sound at Gig volumes; many change their character drastically when pushed.

It's useful to at least know roughly where "flat" is on an amp or preamp, if only so you don't accidentally apply two lots of mid scoop and then wonder why your sound doesn't cut through. (Or too much low end boost, etc).

    Dead set.

50w tube amp didn't work out at gig volume when it was lovely at rehearsals. Booo.

'Fender' 3 EQ knobs are not my cup of tea. No control on mids when they have to be maxed just to be flat. 2 10 2 on the zero to 10 style knobs is 'flat'.

That would be superb if something similar was available here.

I guess one obvious problem is if you were the second owner and hadn't paid any GST/VAT when you bought it off the first owner. Would there actually be anything to reclaim?

Embodied sales tax is worked out pro rata with the depreciated value.

That sort if calculation only applies to import export. Within NZ there's no GST payable on private sales of 2nd hand goods. If you are a GST registered buyer you can claim the GST and have to pay GST on resale.

  10. I am not sure if it still applies here in NZ but it used to be that anyone could get an export certificate and claim back GST ( aka VAT ) on items removed from the country.

That being the case you would need a private seller to jump the bureaucratic hoops but for a high value bass they might do it to make a sale. Then their sale price would be less their local VAT embodied in the item. You pay your local VAT at the border.

In NZ they determined that the new local value has the cost of shipping added to the sale price. Afaik we still get a free pass on anything less than $400 value.

Amazon has to charge NZ sales tax on everything as if they were a NZ entity.

  11. Doesn't seem to be any display tweaking options? I would like to increase the defult size of the displayed message text. I only need glasses for reading labels and this forum is borderline on my phone if I don't enlarge past the natural borders.

If at all possible please increase the contrast of the secondary types from the background. Headlines are black, check, but the next level grey is very faint.

  12. I have been through few amps over the years. All selections based on either some perception of need, or curiosity. I try to stick to 3 at any one time but slacking presently with 4 full choices on hand including two full tube rigs that have only had a handful of gigs between them in the last two years. Don't get me started on preamps.

  13. I play the NXT omni. Flatting out the fingers gets more of the DB less of the BG. Playing it like a big BG is fun too. At the last jazz festival the guy playing a CR didn't sound significantly different to me from where I was standing.
