I go straight to the desk live but I’m thinking of buying a wee amp head to pair with my remaining Bareface cab. Just for messing about in the house really but a bonus would be if it gave me options for recording. So a DI perhaps? I like the look of the Ampeg PF20T but it’s a wee bit pricey for something that may not get a lot of use.

    Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Depends on what way You want to record - mic the cab or ballanced out from the amp.

I don't know about the TC Helix, but I have just bought a mint used Boss PH3 Phase Shifter which I'm quite pleased with. It can do several stage phasing, tap tempo for phaser speed, and can even use an expression pedal with it. It has several knobs for fine tuning the phasing. I am running it in loop of line selector pedal so can mix in some dry bass signal. If you want simplicity however, a used 1 knob MXR Phase 90 would be a good bet.

THX, will add it to my wishlist.

  4. I just found the answer on my own question - filter pre or post compressor, but the the best filter on sound - compressor switched OFF. Thanks to all of Your tips.

All Beatles songs when they are sung by Lennon and McCartney.

They have written some amazing songs but their voices are awful. I have loads of covers of their songs and I love them. Many different styles, but also some done identically but with good singers.

I wish they had been the Bernies to someone else’s Elton.

Saddle Up and Ride Your Pony by David Christie

It's cheesy, and he may even be miming to the bass line . . .

However, I have managed to avoid it for 30 years, simply because the people who schedule radio playlists like it as much as I do . . .

Yeahhh 😝 this song is cheesy and can harm someone very much, especially bass guitarists who use bass synthesizer fx pedals.

So how about using the filter on its own without the compressor at all? How does that sound?

Good question, but the answer will be in a 3 days, couse i have to work. Maybe You are right.

  8. Hmm....I set ef as a first pedal before compresor and chorus, the sound was ok and ef responded very well on my playing quest. The only thing was, that compressor shut the ef a little bit down at volume. Then i tried to set ef after the compressor and ef start to sound a bit like a none responding to attack fx, but not eat the volume down.

What you really need is an envelope filter with two inputs - one for the signal that is being processed and one for the "trigger" signal. That way you can put the filter wherever you want in the signal chain and split off the trigger signal from elsewhere.

Are there any devices like this?

    🤣

    That is interesting!

I was thinking more of my C4 which i suppose is a synth pedal, but i use it for envelope as well. I do get great response, but i suppose the fact that it is digital would make a difference?

My old DOD FX25 absolutely responds to playing dynamics... I'll have to pull it off the board and do some testing before and after comp.

I suppose my ef - MXR M82B is analog.
