Never underestimate the bitterness and resentment felt towards Britain by so many people across the world.

To us Eurovision is a joke. To a lot of the other nations it's a serious matter of national pride, such is their cultural poverty compared to our own. Those  hapless Eurovision entries that we tune in to laugh at really are the best they can do when it comes to pop music. They can't forgive us for that.

That said, the UK entry was indeed crap. He got what he deserved. Thank goodness. Do we really want to have to stage Eurovision ever again now that it has become this ridiculous political football?  Switzerland was the default voting choice because of it's  famous history of political neutrality. I'm sure Eurovision will now find a way to try and drag them into World War 3.

Yeah, agreed, EV is very serously for Latvia, but not for me. I never ever watched any semi or final at tv.

This is my current board based on the Aclam XS1.  In order to maximise space I replaced the end cheeks with pieces of right-angle aluminium faced with self-adhesive silicon rubber strip.  Underneath is a Thumpinator and the rechargeable battery pack.

It is my intention to  replace the Sweeper, the Subnup and possibly the Tuner, BDDI and Thumpinator with an HX Stomp.

There are however a couple of issues with this.

    1.  I need to change over from battery power to mains power as the battery pack does not have enough capacity for the HX Stomp. Not a big deal just need some cash.

    2. Going from the the Cali76 to the Stomp will mean that the Tuner function is after the compressor which is not recommended.  Would it be sensible to put an FX Loop as the first block of The Stomp and run the compressor on that?

    Small and stylish.

  3. My yesterday rehearsal in a new band was critical. The band was death metal, all tattued with satanistic signs, very young age. I thought i would be killed after the rehearsal and all my gear will be taken away. They all drunk 40% balm like coca cola. Finally i got up and said that nothing will continue and got home. Really felt very bad.

Just got in from a Spacewasters rehearsal, going through 3 songs for recording tomorrow. Used my fave Precision as figure best to record with the instrument you play best. Went well, all sounding good. Then we get the call that it’s had to get cancelled due to the engineer having a family problem. Shame but we’ll reschedule.

Edit - I should also point out that a full scale bass (both weight & size) really isn’t the right choice for me now, and although my Precision is my fave bass in all honesty my Mustangs suit the sound of the band better.

So.....what will You choose on next rehearsal - precision or mustang ?

I had a ‘68 with Lollipops from the same timeline and the paint was starting to peel off on mine too (see pic) as it looks like it is on this - could have been a painting issue back then maybe?

I was interested in this, but I’m too far away to collect & when I asked if he would consider posting it to me, he started saying that it would be completely at my own risk, wasn’t convinced that the homemade case would be strong enough to withstand the journey etc, etc☹️☹️

In 3 piece bands i've been in there was no centre stage. Guitarist/singer at one end of stage and bass (me !!!) at other end and we came together in middle for guitar solos on occasion.

Love a 3 piece band tho. When it works it really is the dogs "elbows". :laugh1:

3 piece band is a mystery for me, never had a chance. Only 4-8.

To a large extent Fender did get it right with the P and J bass body shapes. They fulfill the essentials of balance, access, and comfort etc.  If pretty sure that when they came up with them they didn't just draw a shape and say "That'll do". Even the P & J shapes aren't really that far apart. These shapes can be tweaked by other companies, but in many cases coming up a dramatically/instantly recognisable different body shape is to the detriment of basic function.

They same way that  the vast majority of cars are basically the same shape.

    IMHO of course.

Fred keeps asking if the bass can be his when I'm dead, seems like he's hoping I'll snuff it soon! I said it'll be sold on the open market and if he wants to put a bid in, that's fine.

This picture, it reminds me about the great headphones which where destroyed by my cat - the headphones died at age 10, but the cat died when she was 20.
