It reminds me of one that i sold around 5 years ago, the only difference is mine was fretless,
I like that. alot. Excuse my thickness, but what's the "8" thingy at the end of the board - something like the metal "slap plate" on Wilkins basses?
Like the avatar too - I once rebuilt a BSA Starfire in a bedroom....... -
If your not after Cash only, I'd point you towards Shaggy, he's got some cracking basses to trade AND he's looking for a Wal AND! he's right next to us in Swansea (save ebay commission + postage) AND!!! He's a great chap to do a deal with. Win win situation...
Many thanks for the good words Schnozzalee - was mightily tempted by this but I'm hanging on for a 2 p/u Mk1 custom fretless, and/or a Travis Bean. Must have let 3 or 4 (Wals) just slip through my fingers over the years, but one day......
'Twas a pleasure to deal with you too - hope you're getting some good "mwah" from that Guild! -
That's the one - down to £700 now! Rare birds those, though I agree, 2 p/u's is better
Sorry to hijack your thread Jules....... -
Still got that EB-3L? Mmmmmmm. Any idea what they're worth out of interest?
There's a nice original '73 EB4-L on ebay Joe, around the £740 mark which is pretty good. I'd be v tempted if I wasn't skint, but I got as far as checking the shipping cost with him - 60 Euros from Ireland (£50-ish?)
(can't access the link here, will edit in in later) -
Superb cab!!! I used to have one myself.....
Highly recommended!
Have a free early bump
.......whatever happened to it?
I mostly DI/monitor these days, but I love this cab when I back-line, easily best I've ever owned. Not a lightweight, but travels easy on castors / tips single-handed into the back of the car. Not so good on stairs...... -
I'm after a JC case if someone whose preference is gig-bags wanted to pay less for bass only. Just a thought......
Anyway, bump for a lovely semi! -
Stetson and Magnum PI moustache. Never fails.
-
How about £60 for the Alfa.......
Bump for a bargainacious 'bird! -
Met Oli today in sunny Swansea (it was, for a change!), sold him my old Guild B301-F, real bass enthusiast, top guy, great communication - thanks for a slick deal!
-
Well, I must be a "local person" as Martin sold me a very nice 9V power block from his "local shop"! Great, funny guy, smooth deal - thanks!
-
Did an amp / guitar trade with Tim last Friday, totally smooth deal despite my missing my motorway junction (I blame sub-standard English traffic cones) and having to hastily rearrange the meet at the next one down! Great guy, great communicator, great taste in gear, obviously a total nut about all things bass. Has a dubious relationship with his cat
Would deal with again anytime! -
This is one stunning bass. It's a shame I could never sneak it past the wife.
Have a bump.
Betcha could!
I use several cunning plans for "sneaking past", one being that almost all of my basses are sunburst, so when another one joins the herd she doesn't notice..... -
Generally tend to tap the drum-lines, so maybe I'm playing the wrong instument. Earwigging a good bassline tend to make take up the "funky stance / walk"
Exception is vocal basslines on Doo-wop records, can never resist singing along to those!
Dook / dook / dook / dook of Earl / dook / dook....... etc -
Guitarist mate just bought the ltd edition (I think) "Apache" guit*r in white / gold hardware, have to say it's beautifully made; the woods, finish, and set-up absolutely top-notch.
-
I only remember this as a cinema (briefly lived in Roath in te '80's - Angus st.), but I can imagine it making a hell of a great live music venue - could do with a similar one in Swansea. Damn shame, will be writing stroppy letter
I so want this back! It's such a beautiful bass and plays really well; best passive fretless I've ever used.
Thanks for the good words walbassist, and gotta say I've never acquired a bass before or since this so well set up. -
Still available, and driving over SE England way weekend after next!
[s]Get a blackstar, maybe the HT boost, but whip the valve out and stick something better in it. Stock one pretty much sucks.[/s]
Get the DHA VT1 purist, sounds totally ideal for what you want, its funny colours and you don't need funny eq and stuff. It's also true bypass.
Hmmmm ................(searches for spare DiMarzio model 1's at bottom of drawer to trade..........)
Edit: PM'd -
Ta for the info. Just got me a non-master volume Vox AC30, looking for something to either overdrive it at low levels (like a power sponge), or a decent tube overdrive pedal - I think the Blackstar or similar is the way to go
-
How does the DHA VT1-Purist compare to the Blackstar HT? Interested!

Definitely not as common as f/less Jazzes, which is a shame as the plummy "P" sound is so suited to it. Only Sting and Tony Frankin I can really recall as players (did Pino move from fretless Stingray to fretted P?)
Mine still available BTW ( http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=54801&hl=73 ), although it's returned to the back-line recently! Must try some flats one of these days......
