I know this is a isolated incident, but at 95 with Alzheimer's Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. He just lit up and nailed it - words, inflections, etc. 

He may not remember his performance, And I'm Not Making a Joke. But everyone there will remember it, and the healing properties, and Magic, of the Brain and Music.

I mean, I watched it on the telly. And remembering right now STILL brings tears to my eyes.

I'm surprised, guys...

I can't deal with the nasally voice-thingy-thing. I just can't. Stops me dead. I can't listen to good music with one part broken. I can't even listen long enough to find out if it's good music.

I'm 64 but I may be of this generation in that if you don't pull me in in 15secs. and I jump a minute in, and YOU STILL BE DOING THAT, I'm gone.

Of course I can listen to Rainbow Dome Music all night.

DOMi is great just the "other" stuff.

You can play a fretless bass in Metal. And Punk. And WETF you like. Just juice up the amp. And. Oh. Harmonics. Slide 'em up. slide 'em down....

I have a sax friend who survived. Dude has played with Blood Sweat & Tears (and survived D.C.T.) and musical director for Gloria Estefan. Would do those gigs again in a heartbeat. But would NEVER go on a cruise ship again. I don't know. Since I don't drink anymore I doubt I could carry enough pharmaceuticals AND an extra set of strings.

Someone would have to teach me how to do this. And I think the next time I put that cassette in the H2 will be runnin'. The Capt. complains about the lights (after he complains he can't hear himself...because he screams...) and calls them "urine-colored".

There are some times when you absolutely need a "ahem", 4-string bass.

I saw Beefheart at what I believe was his last tour@ The Beacon Theatre NYC for Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller). James Blood Ulmer opened. The guy sitting next to me was recording. I held his mics while he changed batteries. Took my address and sent me a cassette. It's around here somewhere...

I don't know. I think, once you play fretless for a while, your ear starts to "hear" the slight sharpness/flatness you can subscribe to a note, and that pleasantness stays. So it's ingrained - you gotta play it - once in a while. Plus, you can't "bend" a harmonic or glissando on a fretted.

However, that doesn't mean playing out-of-tune to compensate for the guitarist.  

I'm 64 (65 in Feb) Got fedup w/ the classifieds, Bandmix etc. Put up MY OWN pitch in Craigslist.

You have to consider this is central NJ, smack-dab between NYC&Philidelphia.

Am sorting it out, but in discussions w/ a 60-ish keyboard/guitarist who lives 20mins away and has a studio in his house that used to be a bar. (I delivered a pizza to him 17yrs ago, there was an upright bass in the "bar")

Lives in Sayreville NJ and he fired from a recording audition John Bongiovi. (yes that one, before he could control his voice and changed his name.)

Also got replys from a flute, and drummer that wrote for Modern Drummer.

Gotta paint past the edge of the canvas sometimes...

The Tubes. At the Record World in Boston they had posters for "What Do You Want From Live?" in that punk multi-color, like the album cover, and I thought they were a punk band. Came back to New Jersey where I was hanging out@ a fraternity house and my buddy says, "No no no..." and puts on Mondo Bondage and I WAS HOOKED. Bought all the albums and got the WDYWFL? joke.
Got to see them live for the Remote Control tour and Todd Rundgren showed up (he produced the album).

I was in a band that played "Moving In Stereo" by The Cars. I think it's the only song on the album that WASN'T released as a single. The only song by them I could stomach.
