1. I am currently using Audacity for recording on my home mac, but what I'm doing just doesn't cut it: LOADS of noise, latency and bad quality audio. I was looking at one of these:

and thought "that'll be perfect!". But it's about £480 new... anything out there, like this, that is much cheaper? I would rather be able to burn CDs, but it's not a total need. I need 8 tracks, but would like more to play with. It needs to be fairly all-in-one, not too much buggering about with cables. Any suggestions? Or is this one for my birthday?

  2. We recently lost our guitarist- however it was easy, as his heart just wasn't in it. We kind of decided that we needed a new guitarist, and had an idea of a 3-guitarist band for a while, but then the guitarist announced he was leaving- he didn't find it fun. Fair cop to him, and there's no bad blood. But there never was another guitarist. We're now in the process of reaaranging all the songs. And the drummer's just got a double bass pedal...

  3.
Mhh..well, if the MB controls are anything to go by, the VLE and VPF controls will scoop out the middle, boost the bass smooth off the top end.. but I reckon there is plenty of bite in those EMGs!

Looks like his four string is a 5 string without the G (if that makes sense) and then tuned down a tone ;o)
So ADGC?

  4.
Well so far I am very inspired! Very nice tone!! Are they EMG pups in that bass?? and woh!! Is that a MArkBass head I see before me? REWIND! Lemme check it out.. maybe see if I can dial up a similar tone on my X3 later.
Could you make it XT compatible and email me it? Or is that not possible?

From 2:48, the bass is very prominent. I am in love with that tone, and was wondering if anyone on here could give me tips on how to obtain such tone? My gear is a Line6 Bass PODXT going into a PA speaker. All tips welcome!

  6.
I'm off on holiday tomorrow for a week, so would ask to be missed this time around and slot back in again for the time after. Either that or you hang onto it for another week then send it after 20th? I don't mind either way.
I'm fine with that, but then I'll have had it over a month. It isn't getting much playing though, because it's so heavy! I would rather send it on- who's next?

  7.
Take the same analogy and apply it to cars.

As long as a certain level of quality is met (ergo, meaning it'll be reliable), whether it's got a 15 billion litre quadruple turbo engine or is a 1.4 with carbs, it gets you to A -> B.
And in the eyes of everyone else, as long as you're getting to work in the morning/getting to appointments/doing stuff, it doesn't matter if you drive a Veyron or a Corsa.

However, you do need a comfortable ride and one that suits you.
Good analogy, and one that applies very well. Also, a better driver can get you from A>B more smoothly etc

  8. Does the POD X3 work like a pedalboard? i.e, would I be able to string effects (stomps specifically) together? My Bass PODXT only lets me have 1 of each effect at a time. Or would I be better off buying an actual pedalboard?

  9. I took lessons till I got decent, broke my collarbone, self-taught for several years and now I'm getting lessons again. I prefer having lessons, but like self-teaching for more personal stuff- so I get taught 7th arpeggios in lessons and learn technical death metal myself. Get a teacher but self-teach too.

  10.
I suppose it'd be asking too much for a fairly new poster on the forum to be trusted with it? I've been lurking for a long time, but never posted much, really interested in trying a 5er.
I'm quite new here too- but after all, isn't stuff like this the reason you're on a bass forum?

I retract that, I just got it today. Very exciting, laid down bass to a few new song ideas I had lying about. The low notes are really useful! But I want more now. I've had a taste, I can't go back! Anyone doing a tester 8 string?
