Roberto is a smashing bloke to deal with!!
I have known himsince the mid eighties!!!
When you speak to him next say Paul the scrounger says hi!!! ( I used to spend hours rumaging round the warehouse for cheap guitar bits for various projects) -
All I can say is "you lucky lucky lucky etc etc.....
If the wife gives you any abuse just smile and think about a beautiful bass that you own......
I just hope she doesn,t hit you with it!!!! :-) -
I can remember when they first came out and they were amazing then!
I,ve never owned one but its on my shopping list of "one day" basses. -
You mean the Totnes school of guitar making down in devon!
It,s a lot more than just being tutored for a few days while you put together the bits to your new bass, they teach you the whole deal from solid bodys thru to building acoustics as well as neckmaking, fretting, inlays and so on.
I,ve not done their courses but I,seen some of the work done by ex pupils at guitar shows over the last few years and they are very impressive.
It,s probably a bit overkill on the education front if all you want to do is just build up a couple of instruments yourself but definitly the way to go if you are looking to make a career out of it. -
I use three soundgear basses. an SR2005 five string fretted thru neck, an SR1205 five string fretless and an SR405 five string fretted with a bolt on neck (by far the lightest).
I can get just about every tone I want from them, they are very comfortable to play due to their great necks and they are totally reliable, If you want a great bit of kit just to go to work with you can,t go wrong. -
Hi
try checking out ebay
item 180168382553
or 180169188029 -
Maybe Jon should start offering this option on his basses!
-
I use pedals but I have them racked with a midi controller on stage to make changes simple.
-
How about birdseye maple neckthru with plexi wings with squiglie bits in!!............
-
That is a very cool idea you have there!
Don,t mess about! get onto ebay selling heat reactive pickguards and become the next e millionaire!
If you have a ric 4003 pickguard shaped peice of that stuff floating around let me know!!. -
Another good one is Oh Lori by the alessi Brothers, I think it is originally played one an upright but good fun to master.
-
So guys!!! what happened?
-
One 8x10 is great 4 are even better!:-)

Who,s this dan fellow???.

Stoning is done when the frets are uneven due to wear or bad workmanship and dressing is done by using a fret file and re shaping the fret to a curve after stoning which tends to make the frets that were highest very flat you can also include shaping the ends of a fret when they are first fitted as dressing.

I was chatting to the owner of our local rehearsal complex about this yesterday and he seems quite fired up about it.
His ideas were using his main showcase room as the mainstage area and opening up the other studio,s as workshop areas and then went on to say that he could organise the whole show including a hogs roast, outside bar and the accomodation etc as the venue has a huge, clean and cheap (around £23 qwid a nite) Hotel complex within walking distance of the studio,s.
His name is roger, he is one of the nicest, most entusiastic and talented guys I have met in years.
The studio is A&R Rehearsals in peterborough which puts the venue in a resonable distance for travelling from north, south, east, and west as it,s just off the A1.
I f anyones interested in checking out the studio website ans speaking to Roger...

Well my new rig is now up and working thanks to john clark at voodoo lab, after he talked me thru the setting up procedure I now have all my pedals named into the floor unit and I can set up multiple pedal patches and song pedal sequences so that during a set I don,t have to break into an irish jig when I need to select several effects in a rapid sequence.
I,m so happy.
Time for a beer.. -
Ground control build update.
Well I,ve wired it all up as it says in the manual, you can see the back of the switcher unit and all My luvverly wiring is now in place, all I have to do is program it,
It is becoming clear that it is going to take longer to do that, than it did to build it. -
I,ve got many favourites but the one at the top of the list has to be the band Yes with Rush a close second with either Fragile or Going for the one from the yes camp and Power windows from rush.

Well now I know!!

This is just like a question I had for ages like who played bass on the theme for the new avengers.
It wouldn,t surprise me if it,s the same person. -
It is pretty much up to whatever you want to do as far as applications such as running air tools and even car spraying are concerned, I mainly use it for air drills, riveter bead blaster and nail guns for work on flightcases and pedalboards etc, it,s not actually a full on commercial job and I think my local tyre centre would probably kill it in a year but it is as good a home workshop one as you would ever need.
Got ya!
So what about that Clark compressor any good?
Clark comp??
I,ve got a boss comp/limiter in the chain.
The widget over the back on the left is a palmer signal splitter to send a dry signal to svt1 and another thru the pedal chain to svt2
Ohh hang on now I geddit!! the clark compressor, 14cfm of pneumatic porn!! -
Yeah I,d like to know as I,ve been thinking "oh my god , hope he don,t knacker it"
As for sticking your knee under the neck!!!! the only bass that I,ve really ever encountered that the manufacturer ever advised that was rickenbacker with the early single truss rod 4001,s.
How may Basses do we own collectively on Basschat?
