  1. I did Sound for my Original Band [not a soundman; so did my homework/research]; I could never get Bass Tone I was content with, only acceptable through PA

We used IEM's/wireless and I could get CD/Studio Quality mix; helped keep us super tight and Singer loved it.

We had 2 Powered Mackie 15" with Horns and 18"  EV Powered Sub.

So after a few Gigs I used my SWR Head into 4x10 Goliath Cabinet and put in middle of 2 Mackie's and lowered xover on Sub to 60hz and below and only went to board for IEM

Finally Satisfaction not just bass but whole mix out of FOH.

But with Last Band I played with [Cover] we did a Local Festival and my Bass tone from FOH by Sound team was best I ever heard it along with great tone from powered monitor in front of me.

The NY121P is the perfect match for the CMD121P.

I use just cabinet portion of CMD 121P as extension with another 121P [A/B Head] maybe more of a 'perfect' match😀

PS: Head in cab I use as extension is backup Amp [Class D]

Hi Yes its definitely 4 ohm. they are still around if you look but there are more 8 ohms on sale Thanks..... I just don't want to blow my speakers !!!

You can blow up Speakers with any amount of Watt's; Just don't try to😀

8 Ohm may be wiser choice based on Amp output power at 8 Ohm matches Cab and you can in future add another 8 Ohm Cab of any size that handles additional 400 watts of Power at 4 Ohm

The only active basses I've had is my Sterling Ray34 and a Ray35 and I didn't find an overdrive or fuzz that worked with either. Is that a problem associated with active instruments?

Would I find the same problem with an active Precision deluxe?

Just buy a EBMM DarkRay; it's only a a tad more expensive than what you have😀 They have a 5er now

Maybe they will release an SBMM one.

Why would anyone want to sound all dull and thumpy?

Many love that P with Flats sound you have described well😀 A little turn help's for someone in a Variety Cover Band when playing those 'Fossil/Dead Horse' 60's 70's Tunes

  6. As said before most design engineers 'Voice' their Amps/Cabinets to preference; usually by committee after following basic design parameter's.

But it is combination of Amp, Speaker and room that have final say.

Technically a FRFR Active powered Speaker [PA] with instrument input should give you best chance but most I have tried Sound Awful with Bass IMO everything set flat The QSC 12.2 was ok

Now Myers may have what is needed but at a Hefty Price.

I would give Genzler with FRFR Barefaced cab a listen

That G&L headstock is completely unacceptable

I hear you and agree; the CLF Series has acceptable head stock but no 'P' Models

Bad time to be buying anything; Used sellers are just tacking on recent heavy price jumps on new product to their used gear for sale.

MusicMan Cutlass would be my choice for 'non' Fender P but will bust your budget by a few hundred; Should be able to find a nice 2012-2016 Fender American Standard in your range
