3.
haha that would be it then, you won't get any low end on them!
ok i borrowed (stole) my brother's subwoofer....and i take it back i can feel it now....i apologise
I met the drummer outside the LA2 in 2000, really nice guy.
i hear he's not in the band anymore?
 4.
i can hear the bass really well throughout.... of course it helps that i'm using relatively decent speakers compared to what most people use...
im using £7 worth earphones. i try to put the low-freq up on EQ but just get loads of ear-aching thumps from the drumming
 5. Sorry if this is a repost...i'm not sure where i found this vid and it might have been from BC. Simply chord progression yet lovely rhythm, sucks to know i cant play it (despite the fact its a lesson lol) What is he actually playing? I'm guessing its root, 5th, 4th and 7th (in whatever order)
 6. hmm i guess so, i used to be obsessed with the ibanez sound before i got my jazz...now im just lovin the jaco-esque bridge picking sound Do any G&L's mimic the jazz sound? i've only played the tribute L2000 (i think it was that one)
 7.
You can buy the Fender keys (but would be much cheaper at a hardware store) eg at Thomann http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_allen_key_...ricanbridge.htm Or buy a multi-Allen tool eg http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Folding-Hexagon-Alle...id=p3286.c0.m14
ooo ill tell my dad to buy that multi one cheers
 8. When i said its the only audible bit, i was being half-sarcastic. the bass in this song is great, hence i posted it, but i still think it doesnt cut through enough - the guitar is far too loud for my liking. in other words, i dont blame the bassist, i blame the others. i tend to have this attitude to most bands cos they dont make the bass loud enough for me to think "aww yeah i can feel that - i wanna bop my head and play to it" ofc this is just one man's opinion oh and im not criticising anyone, its just the way i communicate over the internet, i act very sarcastic and undermining but i dont mean it at all. i get the jist that im pissing a few people off here and i apologise if im offending people.
Couldnt agree more. I am not a fan either but respect where its due this Bassist knows how to fill that tune. I get a feeling that the OP is just looking for a reaction now. Skin Colour, Fieldy, now a legitimate bass player criticised. I'm waiting on the Jaco/Wooten sucks thread from him any day now.
the skin colour thing...i was bored and slightly drunk lol. the fieldy thing - i was genuinely interested to know how to get that sound. regards to this thread - me and my mates love that video for the crazy bass swinging and we brought it up in convo recently...and yes we do love papa roach...Infest was a work of art. regards to jaco and wooten - both amazing....but im better
 9.
I don't know any of these songs.
BLASPHEMY! Flea is not the best, he just looks funny.
 10. Hey, I think I posted a similiar topic a while ago, back when my only bass was an ibanez artcore, i tried a cheap 5 string ibanez and thought really positively of it. Now I have a squier. Recently, I went to a bass shop to try some 5 strings, tried out two ibanezes, forgot the models, but one was a new make. To be perfectly honest, i didnt really like the sound that came out. they were both very powerful, like the instruments were mocking me, screaming "UGH COME ON AND SLAP ME B****!" but i didnt like the tone. the strings gave a much better slap tone than mine...but then again i seem to be drifting away from caring about slap these days. i just missed my squier...i wished i was cradling a beautiful fender jazz, getting a rich tone from plucking above the bridge pickup, pretending to be a Middle Eastern hybrid of Jaco P and Timmy C. My mate with me was like "WOW that's lovely" but then again she's impressed by anything bassy (why cant all girls be like that? ) So what was it that didnt make me like those Ibanezes sound? The point im asking this is because i dont want to look for new basses with the same features. Was it the active pickups (ive only owned passive)? The quality of the amp (i believe i was connected to a markbass amp...a big one)? Have i become a fender junkie or something? Oh and i guess i also realised that 5 strings aren't for me...having an odd number of strings messed up my orientation. Your thoughts please, Ahmed
 11. i managed to find one in my shed! so nothing else works then? ill keep that in mind, cheers.
 12. What tool can i use to change the action on a fender squier jazz? i cant fit anything into the holes of the saddles - ive been told to use an allen wrench but none are of mine are circular or small enough. anything else i can use? Cheers Ahmed
 13. Never used effects before - dont love 'em too much but i think it would be nice to hear sounds different to that of that of the (not-so-)beautiful tone of my squier jazz. is there anything thats cheap and will give some distortion and overdrive? frankly ill try out anything thats cheap and make my bass sound more uber this looks shecksee :brow:
 14.
Hate mid frequencies, attack the strings with spoons
make sure theyre not magnetised!
 15.
I seem to remember him playing a downtuned 5er, so that would help with the string tension.
yeh i think 'freak on a leash' requires drop A
 16.
A low action, with a seriously low tuning and odd technique.
does he drop tuning and loosen the strings to help get that tone?
 17. ah, so no mid, and loads of treble and bass....sounds like my snoring
 18. I know a lot of people think he's awful (korn fans think hes the god of bass), but meh, bass is bass - how does he get his distinct sound? does he just use really light guage and bright strings and thump the crap out of them? first vid is slapped (it loops for some reason) and second vid is not slapped: p.s. in the 2nd vid hes just playing 1st, 5th and octave notes right??
 19. nice one Eight!
The above sounds good - I'd never heard this (or any of his stuff) - NICE, can you recommend an album to go for? Cheers, James
i only just got into him, hes only got two albums, not sure which is better sorry. i know good songs are: hand on your heart, heartbeats, teardrop (all covers lol)
 20. im trying to construct a nice bassline to go with it - just something relaxing for me to play to (for a bloody change) i cant seem to figure out the chord progression of this - i know, im crap at this cheers
 21. alright so its a second inversion of C major - but whats stopping it from being a chord of G major? because G, E and C are all in G major as well i mean if other instruments are playing in C or in G, would that chord harmonise with both situations?
 22. ah ok, cheers everyone, thats quite reassuring
have a good laugh and women love guys that play guitar, until they realise that you play bass and they turn their attention to the lead guitarist.
haha, but ours are 6 inches longer :brow:
Don't ask them what colour you are.
lol, my beigey/olivey skin will help me stand out on stage
 23.
I agree with the above - as a minimum you *may* get away with 100w but it depends how loud the band you join are. One loud drummer or guitarist and you are out the game! To me the whole point of playing an instrument is to play with other musicians
to be honest im not a fan of too loud music, like i dont see myself in massively loud indie rock...i think i would much prefer being in something more mellow (its cheaper)
