I play with a lot of different artists as well as starting to dabble in pit work and am finding that more and more often that the extra flexibility afforded by a 5 would be very useful, hence the search now. The Sires seem interesting but I think that something with a slightly more modern sound might be more useful for pit work and things like that. Will definitely look at used instruments though!

Hi all, I'm looking at getting a 5er to round out the stable. Ideally I'm looking for something active but beyond that I'm fairly open to anything! I really like the look of the Warwick Rockbass stuff so hopefully that gives you an idea of the vibe I'm going for. I'd like to spend less than £1000. Have at it!

Overall, the bass is great. Excellent factory set up and the rolled fretboard edges are a godsend. I find myself using it in passive mode the majority of the time in my band and then use the preamp as a bass boost for when i need that real kick of lowend. There are unfortunately a couple of QC issues. It seems as though there is with the shielding/grounding of the bass as there is a fair amount of hum for 'noiseless' pickups. As well as this there is a slight issue with the volume pot where the pot itself seems to be loose on the circuit board. These two issues are disappointing on a £1000 instrument but because of how easily fixed they are, I wouldn't let them deter you from taking the plunge if you are interested. In terms of weight, it is by no means light but to me at least there is not too much of a difference between the player plus jazz and my Mexican P bass. unfortunately I don't have any scales to hand for an exact number. It isn't light but its by no means a boat anchor. If you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask!

Annoyingly, it had sold by the time I got the money together to buy it! as its only a small shop this was the last of a batch they had ordered and it would have been a long old time for their next order to arrive.

In the next few days I should be receiving a sparkly new Fender Player Plus 4 string Jazz bass in Olympic pearl and this is my first ever jazz bass (crazy I know!!). I played one a couple of weeks ago in a local music shop and fell in love with the feel and colour of the bass, it played just like butter and its tone was thick and punchy. The active EQ appealed to me as the bass player in a shoegaze/psychedelic indie band (yes shoegaze is still a thing!) as i wanted something with a really broad frequency response. the lack of a passive tone control doesn't bother me either as the passive mode will more or less be a failsafe for me. I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences with these basses or if anyone has found anything to be an issue with the player plus jazz over time?

Hi there, i’ve got my 1962 hofner 182 and am not getting as much neck pickup volume as i’d hoped, I’ve checked and there is nothing wrong with the pickups output itself so raising it seems to be my only option. One issue with that, there is no clear way to do so as shown in the images. Any ideas?

Does anyone have any experience with modern guild starfire II basses. I have had my eye on them for a while and was thinking about finally taking the plunge.

Hi there, Harry here, I have a Squier Bass VI on the way from GuitarGuitar at the end of the month and am aware of the few issues that can arise out of the box. I was just wondering if anyone had anyone has any recommendations of things that can be done for very little money that can improve/fix these issues? I am thinking that a heavier set of strings (at least a 95 on the low E) will be almost a requirement but is there anyone who has any recommendations apart from the pricy Labella's that seem to be extremely common? I’m looking for a new precision bass wiring harness as I’ve finally decided to repair my gigging p bass and the electronics are basically dead. I know more or less nothing about this subject so I’m looking to be pointed in the right direction. I’m most likely going to pair this with custom shop 62 P bass pickups. I’m not sure if this is on the correct section of the website, If not I apologise. Any help is greatly appreciated

I've heard murmerings that you can adjust the truss rod on the vintera 60s by removing the scratchplate rather than the neck, is this possible? do you mind checking if you can? I'm really sorry for being such a pain in the behind by asking this and completely understand if you're not willing to.

I'm currently looking around at basses to make a shortlist for when shops open again (optimistic I know) and was thinking about the sterling ray 34HH or 35HH. Does anyone have any experience?
