  1. In the next few days I should be receiving a sparkly new Fender Player Plus 4 string Jazz bass in Olympic pearl and this is my first ever jazz bass (crazy I know!!). I played one a couple of weeks ago in a local music shop and fell in love with the feel and colour of the bass, it played just like butter and its tone was thick and punchy. The active EQ appealed to me as the bass player in a shoegaze/psychedelic indie band (yes shoegaze is still a thing!) as i wanted something with a really broad frequency response. the lack of a passive tone control doesn't bother me either as the passive mode will more or less be a failsafe for me. I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences with these basses or if anyone has found anything to be an issue with the player plus jazz over time?
  2. Just an update as i realise that I left a few bits out of the description, I am open to offers and I would be happy for collection or to arrange postage at buyers expense. This bass is a must own custom order piece that stingray lovers must be drooling over just as I do (don't worry I always make sure I don't actually drool on the bass).
  3. Hi there, i’ve got my 1962 hofner 182 and am not getting as much neck pickup volume as i’d hoped, I’ve checked and there is nothing wrong with the pickups output itself so raising it seems to be my only option. One issue with that, there is no clear way to do so as shown in the images. Any ideas?
  4. just in case anyone wants to check authenticity the serial number is E28730, just realised photo isn’t too clear
  5. This absolute beauty is a 2009 stingray H in Cabernet Pearl with a matching headstock. Included is the OHSC alongside the original case candy. Before i bought this bass strap locks were fitted so i’m including a strap that matches (almost) the colour of the bass. there are a couple of small knicks on the headstock of the bass and a bit of damage to the case which I have captured in pictures (excuse my dogs they really wanted to be in the pictures). The playability of this bass is really outstanding and she really sings. It really pains me to be selling this bass but if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask :).
  6. Does anyone have any experience with modern guild starfire II basses. I have had my eye on them for a while and was thinking about finally taking the plunge.
  7. absolutely gorgeous bass pm'ed
  8. Hi there, Harry here, I have a Squier Bass VI on the way from GuitarGuitar at the end of the month and am aware of the few issues that can arise out of the box. I was just wondering if anyone had anyone has any recommendations of things that can be done for very little money that can improve/fix these issues? I am thinking that a heavier set of strings (at least a 95 on the low E) will be almost a requirement but is there anyone who has any recommendations apart from the pricy Labella's that seem to be extremely common? Many thanks, Harry
  9. I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere to get a white mm stingray pickup cover/surround i’m not sure what to call it
  10. I’m looking for a new precision bass wiring harness as I’ve finally decided to repair my gigging p bass and the electronics are basically dead. I know more or less nothing about this subject so I’m looking to be pointed in the right direction. I’m most likely going to pair this with custom shop 62 P bass pickups. I’m not sure if this is on the correct section of the website, If not I apologise. Any help is greatly appreciated
  11. I've heard murmerings that you can adjust the truss rod on the vintera 60s by removing the scratchplate rather than the neck, is this possible? do you mind checking if you can? I'm really sorry for being such a pain in the behind by asking this and completely understand if you're not willing to.
  12. Is the back of the neck sanded? just looks as though it is in the last photo
  13. I'm currently looking around at basses to make a shortlist for when shops open again (optimistic I know) and was thinking about the sterling ray 34HH or 35HH. Does anyone have any experience?
  14. Does anyone know of anywhere that sells precision bass necks with painted headstocks? This could be custom order or standard stock Many thanks, Harry
  15. Thanks everyone for your responses, these all sound great, does anyone know of any classic 60s lacquers kicking about anywhere, preferably in sunburst?
  16. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  17. Just a short one but are there any Jazz basses that come up under £1000ish with a nitro finish, preferably in sunburst. I've seen the old classic series 60s fenders fit this criteria but are there any MIJ options or maybe even american? I was looking at the vintera 60s J bass but a nitro finish and rosewood board would be a massive plus
  18. Fender Offset Series Mustang Bass in Red, great little bass only selling to make room in my collection. Good condition with some signs of wear as it has been gigged a few times. Collection would be ideal but I understand that that’s obviously tricky at the moment so I am willing to arrange delivery at the buyers expense. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. Need to sell ASAP
  19. Also how have the 60s basses been set up out of the factory? How much adjustment have you found to be required?
  20. I'm having a bit of trouble deciding between the Fender Vintera 60s and 70s jazz bass and was wondering if anyone could help me out following their own experience with these instruments. Can you adjust the TR on the 60s without removing the neck(as with the flea signature)? How different do they both sound? What is the difference in feel between the two? Is there anything else of note? I am aware that this has been touched upon in one of my previous posts however I'm hoping for further clarification. Overall I think I'm leaning slightly towards the 60s however the TR adjustment is putting me off slightly, how much of an issue have people found it to be? Many thanks, Harry
