1.
Really pleased that you've managed to make something positive out of this; have fond memories of him whenever you play!
+1
 2. Always wanted one of these but I don't gig enough to even vaguely try to convince myself that I really, really need one! Don't think I could lift it either as I'm far too puny and unfit.. But I know it would just sound so, so good. Anyway, have a BUMP on me and GLWTS.
 3.
Hard to believe this is still here?? Quality bass with a cool look to it, great pick ups and a bit of a rarity vibe as well.. Priced very competitively too! GLWTS
Still surprised to see this here so have another BUMP on me!
 4.
All sorted now. Thank you everyone VERY VERY much. What a great forum!
+1 Thats what this place is all about...
 5.
Thanks Nik, hope all's well mate. Even I can't think of a reason why you'd need this and the Ampeg All good at Beedster Towers, the monkeys are growing up and the gear collection is thinning at about the same rate
Good to hear that, Chris and, yes, all good here thanks. No, there's no logical reason for me even looking at amps & cabs on here at all since I bought the Ampeg, but since when has that had any bearing on anything where Basschat and GAS is concerned!
 6. I bought a cheap Yamaha BB300 on here about 18 months ago and used it as main bass for about 9 months. In that time, it saw more rehearsal and gigging action than my vintage BC Rich, my Roscoe Beck 5 string and a few of my other more expensive and so called high end basses. I recently had it set up properly and it plays and sounds even better now.
 7.
Useless piece of trivia - Herbie Flowers wrote "Grandad" by Clive Dunn which made No1 (courtesy of "Pointless)
I had heard that somewhere before, Mick. I suppose that is balanced up with playing bass on Walk on the Wlid Side, from a 'cool career highlights ' point of view. But from Herbie's point of view, I suspect writing Grandad has made more of a difference to his quality of life.
 8. Lovely piece of kit, Chris! If I didn't already own that lovely Ampeg rig I bought from you last year, I'd be very tempted by this... Anyway, hope all's well at Beedster Towers and GLWTS. Nik
 9. Love the look of this bass, so have a free BUMP on me!
 10. Great looking bass which definitely has that 'wow' factor! Good thing is, they sound and play as good as they look. GLWTS
 11.
I have no possible use for this. So why am I drawn to it? Gartone kit is top end boutique. This is bargainous.
+ 1
 12.
Looking forward to my first bash! See you all there✌️
Looking forward to seeing you there, Wal!
 13. Another 'just under 2 months to go now' sort of BUMP!
 14.
Again if you don't mind the MM bridge pickup then the Schecter Diamond-P Custom-5 is meant to be pretty decent.
I've had one of the Diamond P Custom 5s for four years now and I really rate it; somehow, it's managed to outlast two Roscoe Beck 5s that I've had too, which is saying something!
 15. Never heard one of these but I used a TE Quatra valve for a couple of gigs a while back, and it sounded absolutely fantastic.. So I bet this sounds just as good if not better! It was using the Quatra valve that finally persuaded me to get a valve amp and I haven't looked back since getting one last October. GLWTS
 16. Fabulous! Goes completely against the grain in terms of modern lightweight cabs, but IMO it looks as cool as you can get, and I bet those two Ev 15" drivers sound amazing.. GLWTS
 17.
Will be along. I guess as Paul Herman will be there I should bring my Wal Mark2!! Should be fun.
Great stuff!
 18. A 'just under 2 months to go now' sort of BUMP!
 19. Love the look of the cabs, so have a bump on me! GLWTS
 20. Beautiful collection of basses, Chris. Takes a lot of guts, vision (or stupidity) to let all 3 go at once!! But if you didn't do this sort of thing once in a while, it just wouldn't be so much fun around here. GLWTS x 3
 21.
Disappointing to read all these derogatory comments from a bunch of supposed musicians. Not liking something is one thing, but rubbishing other artists' works? Hmm.
Yep, my thoughts entirely.. Bowie led by example encouraging musicians to be open minded and experimental, which is as much a part of his legacy IMO as is his fantastic back catalogue of music. As this event was part of The Proms where classical music is the predominant mode of presentation, I think the use of orchestra with other instrumentation was really good.. At times the orchestration reminded me of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill and at other times, Philip Glass - all of whom Bowie was a long time admirer of. He also collaborated with Philip Glass on the Low Symphony and covered Brecht/Weill songs, so I think they organisers and arrangers got the overall balance and tone of it absolutely right. Just my 2p worth of course...
 22.
It wasn't my sort of thing but I'm glad it was done. It would be a boring world if boundaries were not pushed. Heck, without a bit of boundary pushing most of Bowie's catalogue would not exist in the first place!
+1
 23. I loved it from start to finish and think Bowie would have done too! Anna Calvi's version of 'Lady Grinning Soul' was a particular highlight, but there were many others that really moved me. The Five Years documentary is a great watch, with some brilliant rare footage and very insightful journalism.
 24.
Absolute stunner!
+1 GLWTS
