3. thanks for the responses guys, certainly food for thought. like the idea of the h-clamp sent to front of house.

  4. Hi guys,

Ive just bought meself a phil jones bass suitcase rig and love it, im using a fishman bp-100 pickup and was thinking of adding a second sound source to give myself a little more warmth as the bp-100 is a little 'thin'. The phil jones has a second input with its own eq, active/passive settings so i was thinking of sending a mic input through there and using a blend of the fishman and some sort of mic. ive had a look at the 'golden bullet' mics from k and k, but was wondering if any of you guys had any ideas??

any help would be most apprecitated :)

ps. anyone interested in a 5 string Ned Steinberger EUB? going cheap!!

  5. Ampeg Portabass head and Ampeg PB-210H cab

I've owned this rig for about 2 years and I love it, its punchy as hell and has a gorgeous tone. also the cab is so light you can lift it above your head with one hand hehe, failing that theres also a handle and wheels on it, hence the 'porta' in the title.

I paid top end for this rig at around £1400 squid for the head and cab, and would be looking for around the 600 quid mark? Im also open to trades as well

ive uploaded the stock photos of the rig that i found on the net, ill change these for real pics as soon as i find my feckin camera!

    thanks for lookin

  8.
hi there,i use a david gage pickup on my bass, sits under the bridge, and as a rule i hate having to plug my bass in at all, but needs must(noisey drummers) i just dont like the sound its very nasal.
anyone got any tips on different pickups,mics,etc... i use an eden head, with different cabs, depends on gig.
i need to get a sound im happy with live.
    cheers,any help much appreciated. jimmy.
Hi mate,

ive owned a fshman Bp-100 for around a year and am really happy with the sound produced, you can pick em up for around 160/170 quid and are really easy to install. that nasal sound usually comes from the (lack of) eq range in my opinion. it seems that with every double pick up ive used you need to roll the high end and the mid back on your amp almost to nil to get that warmth to come through. Ive looked at the fishman full circle as an alternative with the preamp as ive heard this being used live and it sounded great but these are quite pricey and you need a professional to fit them.

i solved my problem by using an art valve preamp that i picked up on ebay for 20 squid with a mackie srm 350, sounds great now, really warm and 'REAL' as it were.

hope this is of some interest,
