I'm no expert m8..far from it but i think you'll have to grain fill first then sand & reapply stain, another method i read about was dewaxed shellac & meths mixed together as a washcoat for sealing prior to stain Shuker done this on a build thread on here. Possibly tint your poly with stain ?

Seems swamp ash a bit notorious for this brown colour comming thru, wood bleach was suggested..dunno

I'm going to be staining a swamp ash body aswell, done a good bit of reading up about it & the more coats the darker it gets seemingly. I've never done it before either hopefully it works out ok

Can't find a UK dealer that sells Tom Araya sig pickups, there is American dealers through ebay that have them but would i have to pay any taxes ? Never bought from overseas before just wondering...cheers

A good chrome finish is all in the prep work, it'll be cleaned, dechromed and polished up before rechroming again. Mind the items get dipped in vats so i dont think you'll get away with one small area, best bet classic motorcycle magazine theres always chromers in there who know their stuff, and countersink thats what you call the bevel around a hole good luck bud
