  1. This is the bit that really grinds me, why does it take days before they reply ? I did send them an email on Tuesday morning saying i was happy enough to accept offer and i needed an address to send the certificate back for the black bass. Maybe their having a think after what Fender had to say i dunno.

  2. Pickup position in both basses are exactly the same at the split, Hill's reversed pups have a slightly brighter E & A where the D & G loose a bit edge seems more balanced out all in but mind the Hill uses EMG's compared to the 77's Dimarzio's. The 77's neck feels more slicker but could be put down to having a satin like finish compared to a painted neck, all in i couldn't pick a better one out of the two...both hold there own. Just need a Wimbish now or a p/j Hill and i'll be happy. By the way both are good for thrash metal never mind heavy metal

  3. Resolved 🙂...Fender have looked into the serial number issue it's only took them since August but it works out that the Pro models built in 2016 didn't come with a certificate it was added later (I've attatched Fender's email). Mind you it doesn't answer how i ended up with  a certificate for a 2017 black Jazz !. As a goodwill gesture PMT have offered me a £230 gift voucher which i'm happy to accept.

All this talk of Ian Hill has got me misty-eyed for Priest. My first proper gig was Priest at the Newcastle City Hall on the British Steel tour in '80, along with Maiden who were supporting... it rocked!

It's been a Priest weekend around my house.. and they still deliver..

Same here Edinburgh Odeon 1980. Early Maiden years & still some of their best material.

  5. These are indeed Hill's go to basses now, American Musical Supplies have a 20 odd minute interview online and he does mention that he should have been on stage in America with them at that time. Spector pipes up and say only 50 will be made.

  6. I'm sure Hill never used the J pickup on his previous model just the P on its own, the pickup looks like a P sweetspot position to me. Does look grand in the white aswell real fine, the neck does sound good in the spec bit too 🙂

I've had a custom colur on a VS4.  Very easy (bought through Classic & Cool).  Sandberg send colour swatches and you pick the one you want.  By colour swatches I mean a whole book of them not just half a dozen.
