Everybody who played it absolutely loved it. 4,9kg is really as light as a Hexabuzz gets, but I am about to order a Franz Bass Sirius 6 Fretless which will be considerably lighter (and sounds awesome, too).
The Hexabuzz has a mean growl in the lower register with a stunning B-string and a very vocal and smooth upper register. It is instantly recognizable and really brings the sound of the band on another level.

I bought this bass on basschat:
Wonderful bass in good condition, sounds absolutely phenomenal, IMO the best fretless on the market!

Link to the photos was added. The bass will be strung E-C or B-G prior to shipping. Nothing of note except for a small ding on the back and the missing trussrod cover (I might be able to find it, have not looked for it yet).

Fodera would charge a lot more for the top alone than the price of this bass.

I have been sick, sorry.

This is a lot of bass for very little money.

Bump for my old bass. Sounds killer with Labella Nickelwound strings.

I bought this bass new via Thomann and played it for about 1-2 hours. I switched to playing six strings exclusively pretty quickly after buying this one. I think it is a terrific fretless bass, suited for any gig.
Alder body
Rosewood fretboard, coated

I think I will get to it sometime tomorrow evening.

At least this bass looks great, though.

Very nice indeed. I have spoken to Oscar several times, he seems like a good guy, though I have heard recently his customers are having trouble with him taking many years to build their basses! So if you're considering a Prat, then this is a great option!
Actually, some people paid for a bass and never receiced it.

Excellent read! I wonder if that have those blue plaques up on these buildings in the USA ‘Ken Smith carved his first bass here’ 😂
its a shame they’re so rate in the UK. I still don’t think many people know what a Smith sounds like. I discovered them by hearing the sweetest bass sound I’d ever heard, didn’t think anything of it (pre internet, what could I do!?). I recognised the sound on other things and eventually saw the video for Chic Corea’s ‘Electric City’ and heard that sweet plink of the G string (0:30)
Btw I love this video clip- had the CD for years, but did not know about the video. Recorded at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, featuring some very skilled dancers 🙂

Lot of other manufacturers in the 'six' story though... Fender, Carl Thompson and Fodera for example... Anthony Jackson and subsequently John Patitucci were the innovators... Arguably Jack Bruce on the Fender too.
All of this can be found in the article, though.

Yes, I think it is 17,5mm string spacing on the bridge. Controls are Volume, Panorama and a Treble/Bass stacked pot. The bass sounds brilliant in passive mode. In active mode, you can dial in a very funky fingerstyle sound as well as a Marcus Miller style slap sound. The treble control can also be used to cut high frequencies and works as good as a passive tone blend.
