  1. Very cool bass and beard. Daryl
  2. I'm still working on it. We play the song so fast it's hard to come up with something. Daryl
  3. Thanks Dclaassen, I put the MIJ 2000 Fender P away for a while. I'm back with my 1994 G&L. Daryl
  4. Something new for me. When I arrive at a gig I make sure I know where all the railings are for stairs and use them. A clean stage is important to me now as well. I don't like a lot of leads all over the place. They're very easy to trip on and cause a fall. Daryl
  5. That's a good idea. I could definitely see taping a set list on my Hofner. Daryl
  6. I found some video from last Saturday. Not our best. I post the good and the bad. Guitars seem out of tune, it was 100°, sound mix was not great and I played with a healing broken ankle. I'll stop because I can go on forever with making excuses. I can't hear any bass without earbuds. Daryl
  7. The 99° degree weather was not good. Daryl
  8. I've seen many famous headliners well into their 70s using iPads and music stands. Daryl
  9. We played Summerfest yesterday. There were some pros and cons. It was one of the smaller stages. However it was an upgrade from the last two years after we lost our big stage contact. It was 99° so Summerfest attendance was low. We had an air conditioned trailer with a nice supply of cold drinks. We played a 45-minute set took an hour break then came back and played another 45 minute set. The best part of the gig was we went straight from the stage into the shuttle van. That was cool. Daryl
  10. I can only dream of having a schedule like that. Daryl
  11. Yes, we were lucky. Getting a slot at Summerfest is all about politics and who you know. Daryl
  12. True, And you can run into some of the stars when we catch the shuttle Vans to the stage. Daryl
  13. Pete, Sounds like it should be pretty cool. And I'll take a few hundred in the crowd any day. And the line up from 1970 is just the headliners. Daryl
  14. Thanks Dave, It should be good. We've been playing Summerfest every year since 2009. However for the last 3 years we were relegated to what I call low profile kiddie stages. This is the first time in 3 years where we're back on a respectable and proper stage. Daryl
  15. Dave, Not rock & roll ? When I fell and broke my ankle a few weeks back a tube of Preparation H ( hemorrhoid cream ) fell out of my front pocket. Daryl
  16. Pete, Take a close look at the Summerfest 1970 line up. Much more diverse than what we have now. And just think we're an hour north of Chicago the blues capital of the world and no more blues headliners at Summerfest. Daryl
  17. Cool, Pete my concern for Saturday is the heat. It's going to be in the 90s. There's a bass rig on stage. I'm only bringing an instrument stand, bass and my pedal board. Daryl
  18. Maple Road will be performing at The Big Gig, Summerfest the worlds largest music festival this Saturday. Set time is 1:45-2:30 and then 3:30-4:15. We're on The Johnsonville Stage. "We received 3 digital parking passes for Lot E today. Max and Rory, I will send you each one later today, Daryl will ride with us, and we need to be to the Lot by 11:45am on Sat." We only got in because the band originally booked canceled. Daryl
  19. If I wasn't in the band I would have been escorted off the premises. Lol Daryl
  20. Thanks Dave, It's one of those venues where the owners put in a lot of effort to take care of the bands. You can drink for free. Plus these folks have live music booked for 3 nights a week in the summer. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Very cool vibe, money people, no " riff raff". Lol Daryl
  21. It's expensive in my neck of the woods. Especially these high end "snooty" Winery's. When I was going out with Connie last year she was always broke. I'd take her to a gig and I had to pay for everything. I'd end up spending half of my pay on drinks and meals. Daryl
  22. Lovely bass guitars. Daryl
  23. That's our band leader, lead guitarist and lead vocalist. The bass is my 2000 MIJ Fender 1951 Precision reissue. Forget about the pretty lady. What about my white jacket. Don't I look " Dandy " ? Lol Daryl
  24. Nice One Dave! Daryl
  25. Happens to us all. You'll knock them dead at the next gig. Daryl
