  1. I need a gig like this. I'm still recovering from last week's disappointment. Daryl
  2. Dave, I'm not sure why I shared the story either. I think it evolves around age.lol By the way Dave, our band leaders parents and good friends of mine are off to Scotland next week. They've never been and are super excited. Daryl
  3. The story actually evolves around what comes with age. Don't ask how it happened, I don't know it just did. I didn't realize it when I left home for the show. I had put my underwear on backwards. I knew something didn't feel right by the time I arrived at the gig. I was tired and a little confused . I just said " screw it" entered the bathroom and took all my clothes off and put my underwear on correctly . Lol I guess that's rock & roll. Daryl
  4. The dressing / green room provided to us at Edison Hall. Not bad at all. Daryl
  5. Dave, 2 months ago we played The Anodyne in Milwaukee. Big " green room" with a private bathroom. We had an opening act and we were to be on stage at 8:00. Some day I'll have to share the story of why I was walking around in that bathroom completely naked at 7:50. Daryl
  6. Nice pics. You guys always look distinguished and " well heeled ". Daryl
  7. How about backstage at Lucy's at Wisconsin State Fair. We were sitting on folding chairs in the dirt next to several garbage dumpsters.lol Daryl
  8. This is what I love about BC. The commonalities. Pub/bar gigs are always hit or miss. In my neck of the woods mostly miss. We hadn't played a bar in years but we played one last Saturday night and it was disappointing for a myriad of reasons. I do contend that bands can and probably should out grow pubs and bars. I would call our bar gig last Saturday more of a " money grab" than a paid rehearsal. Or maybe a little of both. I'm better suited for upscale show case gigs. Lol Daryl
  9. I lived in Southern Spain from 1962-1966. Maybe some of my friends are still there. Lol Daryl
  10. Playing any kind of UK gig would be surreal for me. Daryl
  11. Something for you Dave when your band comes to the States. Daryl
  12. Our manager/sound guy is a fanatic about keeping the stage area clean. So much that nobody goes near him or touches or moves anything until he's done setting up. We can't look at anything either. Daryl
  13. Nice pics. You guys look great ! Daryl
  14. Now that sounds cool. I wish I had some UK gigs. Daryl
  15. Here's something I don't understand. When a sound guy is checking the monitor volume on stage. They check it from the house. Of course I can hear my vocals and bass when nobody else is playing. Why wouldn't they check monitor volume when the band is playing on stage. That would be the real test for me. Daryl
  16. Agreed on the iffy power. And yes usually packed and alot of cocktails flowing. Daryl
  17. Ok, the gig at Capones. Interestingly enough, someone was talking about places that aren't consistent with live music. Well, Capones has a lot of bands booked. however I didn't get the sense it was a music crowd at least not for us. I assure you we went into it with a positive attitude. We did the best we could. It wasn't a good gig. I mentioned we haven't played a bar in years. We felt like we had went backwards. The sound was awful. Boomy and and a lot of echo. We have another gig booked there on August 12th. We decided on the way home to cancel it. One good thing. It was an $800.00 gig. I really don't like complaining about gigs, but this one was painful. Daryl
  18. The Vista King. Try loading onto the 2nd deck of a touring boat on Lake Michigan. Daryl
  19. Nice, it's no fun lugging gear through a narrow galley bar area. I know, I've done it. Daryl
  20. HEY FOND DU LAC AREA FRIENDS! Maple Road Blues Band is coming to your neighborhood THIS SATURDAY NIGHT! Join the party at Capones! www.mapleroadbluesband.com My concerns. We've never played there before, It's a late night bar gig and I'm 71. At my age I'm just not comfortable being out at night in a bar even though I'm technically working there. I'm not sure if this place is known for having live music. I'm sure I'll have stories tomorrow. Daryl
  21. How was the load in. Did you have to carry gear through the narrow bar area? Daryl
  22. Nice facial expression and hand gesture. Daryl
  23. I don't know why, however that stage looks " Cavern Clubish " to me. Daryl
  24. That's a sad story. Any new details on what went wrong? Daryl
