  1. Hi Guys,

Ok So Ive now finished work for Christmas and i'll be working on Alex's bass for a few days during the break, Ive been sanding the bass over the last couple of night and she's looking good. Should have the cavity coppered out over the weekend and a couple of little jobs before I can get a couple of coats of wax on her. Ive ordered some Teflon silver coated wire for the pots and when that turns up from the states I'll be able to get the wiring all sorted. So things are all good!

    have a good one Guys!

    Robbie.

  3. Hi Guys,

This is a Quote from Dave Funk to me about the new TFB750-A

For those who haven't heard, I received the prototype transformers last Tuesday, too late to use on Bill Dickens amp, but after firing it up I just listened to it for a day. I can't believe how much better it sounds. Deeper, warmer, fuller, bigger, cleaner, louder, more detail, smoother, shimmering cymbal detail.... a different amp altogether. Like getting a heart transplant. It sounds so much better I can tell you I don't plan on building anymore TFB550-B's after I use up the parts I have left. And Bill hasn't heard this amp yet.

I'll let you know. For all those who have already ordered the TFB750-A you will be very pleasantly surprised.

    Thanks for your support,

    Dave

So thats from the horses mouth!

Looking forward to hearing one next year!

    Cheers,

    Robbie.

  4. Hi Paul,

How are things bud, glad to see you have got to do your bathroom suite also. Im starting mine in the new year and so is Alex, you gotta love the DIY. To answer your question about the Buzz Feiten system and zero nuts, ive not looked into them really, I love the wooden nuts, may look at them in the future, I just dont think you need that much fine adjustment for bass, maybe on multi string ERB's.

    Cheers,

    Robbie.

  5. When I had my mesa 400+ at full power, I was told that to get the same power out of a solid state rig you would need around 1600w So basicly tube amps are four times louder? Ive been playing a Thunderfunk 550B and I dont really miss the Mesa anymore. So lets face it, there's lots of different amp and cab setups. Some will project better than others.

    Cheers,

    Robbie

  6. Just found this Berg IP112 on ebay in the states, this is a steal!

  7. Hi All,

Ok guys so here's the latest bits done on Alex's bass, the nut is cut and the frets have had the slightest of dresses. I going to finish all the final sanding and then Foil the control cavity. Im hopefully going to be using a high quality teflon wire between the pots to give the bass the best signal, Ive been looking into turntable wire which has the best audio reproduction. Hope you guys like the update!

    Sperzels!

    Cheers,

    Robbie.

  8. Just found this thread guys, so if any of you are still up for trying the Dr Bass Cabs just get in touch when they are in. I will post up in my sub forum letting you know when they turn up.

  9. Cheers for the plug on the cabs Jaime bud, To everybody else Jaime came down to see me last year about a custom bass and brought his TF550/DR Bass rig and when he plugged Marty's 6 fretless marseer into the rig I was blown away. Two months later I had my own TF550, so now Im hoping the 2460's will be a great cab and I might sell my Accugroove El Whappo Jr, Marc at Dr Bass Cabs reckons his 2460 smokes the El Whappo Jr. Im sure I will A/b the two for a review!

Dood bud you are most welcome down to my home anytime, cya in the new year!

    Cheers,

    Robbie.

  10. I remember going thru a Harke LF cab (Stretched cab with 4x10 and centered Horn) Sound great with the old 400+ , just glad it wasn't mine due to the shear weight of the cab. Not sure I like the looks of the new Hydrive stuff, sounds abit thin!

    Cheers,

    Robbie.
