1. Good work Si on organising a fun afternoon! Lovely to see what a supportive community bass players make. It was great to play Jabba's awesome short scale (my lad was very taken with it) and thanks to the chap with the Mesa, I now have GAS again!

The 'Homage 5' in silver burst was lovely.

Thanks for the tips. I've gone with a zoom for now, just to get up and running, but that Laney contraption looks thoroughly badass and it will be first in line when I'm able to upgrade!

Can super recommend it. Really well made and comes with the PSU as well.

  3. Was given this when I had a Mark V Golf, it has the fixing kit for a Polo and Fox, never offered it up to the Golf so couldn't confirm if it would fit. Having said that you can buy the adaptors. Its used and has sat in the garage for a couple of years. Pick up only from Leicester :)

Having said that, this example does sound very good. But is that down to the Noble, or the £1m SSL desk..? ;)

Neither, its Hurley being a kickass player. Great musician.

I joined bassworld back in 2002 when there were less than 100 members. I've seen it morph through various incarnations. If you search though web archives there is a snapshot of what bassworld was like.

I was very excited to find uk bass forum 'bass world'. My enthusiasm was diminished when I discovered there were only 16 other members.....

I met a fellow Bass-chatter there but can't remember his name. I saw him the other year at the Midland's bass bash in Leicester where he was playing a red Sadowsky I think, and doing machine-gun slapping (most impressive).

    Anyone here?

Machine-gun slapping, that would have been me. Sorry 'bout that. **hangs head in shame**

  7. Surprisingly I really enjoyed Jeff Berlin's clinic. I didn't agree with some things he said, in my book thats a good thing. He's a lot less aggressive than he used to come across years ago. Great to see so many bass players out to see it. Kudos to Mark for hosting the event and for Mark Bass for supporting it.

  8. Yeah thats it, just so versatile and powerful. Really nice amp.

When I use both of mine at the same time I either split the signal from my Cali76 or use my Aguilar DB680 as the front end as it has two outs.

Weirdly in the Markbass video Alain Caron suggests running one combo in to the other via the preamp out/fx return. I always felt there was some phasing issues when I've tried this. Could just be the room etc. Using the Cali76 or DB680 with two AC combos is ace.

The Alain Caron is a beast!

Full 500w into the 1x12 and another 300w just for the horn :)

It goes very loud without any need for an extension cab. Plenty of clarity from the horn but you can use the filters to warm things up if that's what's needed for certain songs or gigs.

I'd take one ahead of the Jeff Berlin every time!

Agreed. I've got a couple of them (AC 121 lite) for when I'm flip-flopping gigs. Occasionally I use both at the same time. Lovely sound.

One by itself is a beast. I can do a one trip lift from the car with two basses in a Mono bag, amp and another bag of bits/pedals no worries.

Also it takes pedals quite well. For example when I want a more Ampeg tone I can pop a VT Bass in the front end and it sounds great.

The AC feels like a nearfield studio monitor, but much louder.
