  1. Gibson Thunderbirds can be used in any band.. it has 2 pickups 1 in the bridge position and 1 in the neck position. So you can pretty much any sound, especially with a good outboard preamp.

I've seen them used in Rock, metal & funk (Bootsy)

Ah! "Miss Myrtle" as it's known. Used to be mine for a couple of years. I bought it from @Luc on here.......and then sold it ot @Luc on here! 🤣 It's one on my "wish I'd never sold it" list. 😢 Link

Wow, such a great build. Did you commission and select the woods? What was the reason for selling the bass if you don't mind me asking?

It would be a dream if they were.

I haven't had any replies from Rob when enquiring about ordering a new S2 Classic bass... that could be a good sign, maybe they will make an announcement in the future... but could be he's just tired of replying to new build requests haha

  4. Another jazz tune improv on the Jaydee, this time i set the bass on 70%, Mid on 100%, Treble on 5% , Tone rolled right off and back pick up selected... only thing with this setting is the bass is quite a bit quieter, probably would need a volume boost pedal if i was going to switch to this setting and then switch to a normal slap sound in a gig.

  5. Another bass sample, this time with some slap and finger style bass playing...

    Controls are

    Bass: 60%

    Treble: 50%

Pan: Middle for slap, back pickup for finger style

It's in Sweden - not that this would make any difference. I thought the one on ebay was red.

I just messaged him on Reverb and he says he bought it from a friend. Was a bit of a coincidence & yea the colour must have been different.

    Yep Swedish prices i guess

Hey! Cheers Joe, very much appreciated... and thank you for attending, great to chat with you! Was quite the Live Chat, thanks for your contributions. I hope you found some of the answers to your questions helpful.

More of the same next week? 8pm on Tuesday?

Absolutely! Looking forward to it Mike. Oh btw, what was the name & year of the Level 42 concert where Mark was playing that Status Matrix bass? cheers

Well that one fell in the right hands!

Wish I had technique like that.  Embarrassed to own nice basses now.

Haha thank you, I feel the same way when i see other bassists... i just remember that i own these expensive instruments for my own reasons...

when i was a full time musician many years ago my only bass was a second hand yamaha trb that cost £200 on ebay... now I am working in a 'proper' job i own a few expensive instruments that hardly get played.
