1.
Hello guys, I'm playing bass gutar and upright, but this thing just blow my mind... I was allways fascinated by upright bass, but i just cannot play it as good as my native instrument - bass guitar. And Marco Marcustico bass http://www.marcoguit...vos/Page381.htm looks like a best option for me. But i cannot find any of those for sale and I think I know, how much it costs, so, my question is - have you seen anything more affordable and easier to find, but with the same upright bass sound in bass guitar shape? Thanks, Nojus
If you're after the upright sound, on an affordable bass, how about the Aria FEB Fretless Acoustic/Electric? I think it is stunning and fully intend on getting one when I have the spare cash (no time soon then ). Here's a You Tube demo of it in action.
 2. I wouldn't say no. But I would be disappointed if it didn't smell of spearmint!
 3. Hello Ash Nice to have you on board. I am a newbie here myself and everyone seems to be friendly and helpful. I would love to see some before shots of this dog you are upgrading, just so we can be wowed by your end result even more!
 4. You gotta get the Gretsch Jet Jr for a coupe of hundred quid. It is a stunner and sounds great:
 5.
FWIW one of my main p basses (depends who I'm playing with) is a highway 1, made in USA, painted in Mexico, assembled in USA I love mine, badass bridge, American standard parts, greasebucket tone circuit (if that's your thing) alder body, thin satin finish cheaper than American standards but pretty much same instrument bar a couple of minor differences i.e. No string though body option but then it does have a badass II on it.....!! They don't come up for sale VERY often but they do appear, I bought mine used for £450 which is about the going rate Worth a lookout for your budget I would say.....
Thanks for the tip. I see reverb.com has one listed, but it's in the US, and the seller has, shall we be kind and say, modified it. 6. Thanks for the feedback everyone. It seems to be unanimous then (and as I suspected) if buying new go for the MiM, but look for a MiJ 2nd hand and I can't really go wrong.
 7.
Can I play with madness?
You'll have to ask Suggs.
 8. How about a Vox Phantom Bass? Not overly heavy at all, although I'm not sure of actual poundage. And has to be one of the coolest guitars around!
 9. I am gassing for a P Bass (I only have an Epi T'Bird at the mo), and was wondering if it's worth getting the Squier Classic Vibe for £440 or spend a couple of hundred more on a MiM Fender P Bass? I don't have the option of going to try them both out, which is why I am seeking advice here. I know Squier are the budget range, but I actually prefer Epi to Gibson, so prestige isn't an issue here. Thanks.
 10.
welcome from Teignmouth! If you check out the used section in Mansons, there are some bargains to be had, I find Project musics bass selection pretty dire TBH
Hello Teignmouth True, I'd have agree about Project Music's bass section, but As I am just starting out on my bass life they have everything I am gassing for. I prefer the staff there as well because I find most of the Manson's staff are a bit elitist, I do have to say that their bass guy is great though, which is handy!
Hi.
Hi back to you Bbiigg Kev. How's life in the midlands and the Netherlands?
 11.
Welcome, if you have GAS then avoid Mansons. I'd sworn Fender were overpriced and trading on the brand until I dropped in, tried a Highway One Jazz and fell in love. Still my favourite to play
I do tend to avouid mansons as they seem to have a policy of overcharging on everything! I use Project Mucis in Exeter, a much friendlier place that charge realistically.
 12. Thanks for the welcome everyone. It is great to find a bass forum based in the UK.
All I would suggest is to buy it online - so you can try for 30 days and send it back if you change your mind.
Good tip, thanks for that!
Few years ago Exeter was the starting point to my cycling trip around Cornwall - one of the best thing's I've done in my life. No idea about the Aria but the GAS for P Bass is something everyone suffers from. Even if we have quite a few PBasses, there's always a different color, signature or make or whatever - the excuses to buy one are endless.
Good to see another Pompey resident here, I grew up there. It's funny with the P Bass, I have always hated Fender guitars, too many associations with boring I'm afraid. But I played the Fender P Bass and thought it played like a dream so I have to save for one.
is it raining down there?
Alas not I'm afraid Steve. At the moment the sun is trying to break through and winning, which is a pain. I am photophobic so am 'alergic' to strong sunlight (exposure causes migraines and all manner of nasties!). I did a bit of a search and found this video from Aria with someone playing the bass I am looking at. I love the sound of it, so have to decide whether a P bass is a higher priority or not... 13.
Hi, and welcome - though I don't have experience of the Aria.
Thanks for the welcome. I have had a quick go on one (Aria that is) and it feels great, but I thought it'd be wise to see if anyone can tell me if there's anything to look out ofr (akin to the wheels falling off!).
 14. Hi Folks Glad to be here, I have been playing the bass now for a grand total of about 3 months and am loving it. I tried to play the guitar and had a dawning realisation that I am not a guitarist and most of my heroes are bassists anyway, so I thought I'd give the lower end a go and it feels much more natural to me. I have a Korean Epiphone Thunderbird and a 30W Ashdown amp that fits my needs perfectly at the moment. Although I am gassing for a Fender P-Bass and an Aria Fretless Acoustic/Electic bass. Does anyone have any experience of the Aria? If so is it as good as it looks? Really looking forward to being a part of the community.
