Don't worry about the e-Bay thing. There's no hurry. If you want one of these, just give Chris a shout at Overwater and he'll make one for you - you can even choose the exact woods you would like.

True, but at £2k plus which was what Chris quoted me for one and that was a couple of years ago.

Undertones, another Ric? I must have been dreaming my association between Precisions and punk?
    [/quote]

No I would have agreed with that but I think it may be more due to the 'iconic' images of Sid and his white precision.

  5. Nice!!! A lot of dosh but still £500 less than the UB40 one on eBay! Determined to find a nice XL2a one day.

Stacker FYI, an Italian store - Hendrixguitars.com has a 5 string lined fretless XL ( and 2 XP2s!!) dont know if anyone here has had dealings with them.

  6. My two Wals which I no longer have :( the pro 1 needed the electronics looking at but was offered over twice what i paid for it and like the shallow idiot i am fell for it. The custom was defretted badly then refretted with the wrong fret gauge and just wasn't the same. Still going to have another one at some point.

  8. Historical note here of interest to no-one but meself and my missus but my father-in-law managed Fifth Column during their brief existence and Mrs Bob remembers Gerry Rafferty singing lullabys to her and her sister when she was wee! They parted company cos the band fought all the time :P My father-in-law is now gone but my mother-in-law remembers all the gory details!
My wife swears she drew a poster for their first gig at The Firemans Association Club at Glasgow Airport.

The Memorial concert was awful IMO - great tunes done not very well.

ps would go lovely with bassgurumonster's blue custom jazz in the FS ;)

  10. Did the C bass and the normal version ever have an actual model name or number associated with it? I usually refer to them as Overwater Originals but I remember seeing a reprinted review from early 80s which mentioned a model number in the title of the article but cannot remember what it was.
Must get the jack socket on BettyBlue fixed she is a fantastic bass despite her dead spot....

Edit i think I've found out they were designated OS 957 (unless the 957 was the serial number for the guarantee I saw on eBay)
