  1. Oh man another bass with issues😡 .  Frets are tarnished, I gave them a vigorous wiping with a damp cloth to see if it would come off and no joy, I am reluctant to order the 1200 grit and start working on the frets on a new bass in case I bodge it

Thanks, I have some silver polish I'm going to give a try, I figure with how soft silver is it should be fine for polishing up some frets, fingers crossed that it works

Ok so I have tried the polish on 1 of the frets as a test and it has removed the tarnish but the fret that I have polished is a silvery colour whilst the other frets seem to be naturally a kind of slight brass colour, is this something I should be worried about?  I am guessing not since abrasives would be used during a fret dressing that would have a similar effect ?

      You needn't worry.

The polished colour of frets tends to be lighter than when tarnish has darkened them.  They will gradually return to the darker colour as the polished surface oxidises.
