The internet has opened the doors to so much content it's difficult keeping track of it all.

I've found a couple of 'local' BBC shows available on the BBC Sounds application which appeal to me and I suspect might work well for other folk of a similar age and musical disposition.

My tastes were formed in the early seventies and waved goodbye to (most) popular music in the mid 80s. These shows probably reflect this.

It would be great to hear what you've found.

I discovered Boom Radio about six months ago, very fitting as i am a Boomer myself with the same tastes as you by the sounds of it. The dial inj my car has never moved since.

"We Built This City," or as my AV teacher called it when it hit number 1 in the US, "DJs and radio stations are great!  We love them!"

It's one of the mysteries of the universe how Jefferson Airplane, one of the best and most challenging bands of the 1960s devolved through the 70s to emerge as Starship, one of the worst and least challenging bands of the 80s.

I too can not stand this tune,Jefferson Airplane were garbage as well.

Haha! Much as I prefer Precision’s, there’s a reason why the P5 I got in the same colour left before this one despite being lighter 👀

the tone of this bass is insane, no need to change pickups or anything.

    Ander.

Agreed all i did with my 4 string was change the strings ,i put some ROTO 66 Swing Bass strings on it and it sounds as sweet as a nut,the PUPS are very vintage sounding but sound great.GLWTS.

no problem with the music, , and yea the band is top draw, and for that i have about 5 of his cds.

i can see ska making a come back, its just such great music, joyous, dancey, energy filled fun.

im sure it will be on catch up

The Specials thought exactly the same back in late 1978.

I'll add my Scottish Power veto to the growing list.   Long story short, we bought a house which was demolished and all the services notified, final meter readings done etc.  4 months later we got a gas bill from them and despite numerous phone calls, live chat exchanges, photograph of disconnected meter sitting on a heap of rubble, plus a complaint, it took a letter to the CEO to stop the demands for payment.  And someone still called round to do a reading about a year on.  Could have done without the hassle.

Oh, while I am here - another 'Spoons veto.  Not because of the way they treated staff but because the food was absolute sh!te on the single occasion I ate in one.  Thought I'd play it safe with burger and chips but they still managed to ruin it.  Worst food I have ever eaten out, I'd hesitate before feeding it to foxes.

?Nowt to do with Brexit then.😁

    Not music related but...

I think the only company I'll never use again is a local Ford garage.

It's about 3 minutes walk from my house so it made sense when I first moved  here to take the car there for MOTs , services etc

But they always found stuff that 'needed' doing. The tracking would be off or the tyres were worn or the air conditioning fluid needed changing.

The final time I went there I got a phone call saying I 'needed' over 1k worth of stuff doing or the car would be undrivable.

I declined, took the car back and took it to another local garage where they told me they were unable to find any of the issues the first garage had warned me about.

So now I take my car to that garage, and if anyone ever asks me if I know a good mechanic I 'll warn them about the local Ford garage that tried to rip me off.

That is why they are called Stealers as opposed to Dealers,And i

n experience are one of the worst  players.

  7. Wouldn't part with this  for the world .

Plays lovely ,Nice tone,Great Fingerboard rounded so makes it easier to rake the strings form the G string  upwards.

And all this for £399 Squid.

And the Build quality is better than my Mex Fender which is £300 more .

You just can't go wrong with these for the price.

When the metal is bent, it is cold tempered (hardened). Tempering changes the metal so that it becomes harder and brittle. After bending the string a couple of times, the bent place is so hard that it breaks easily. Just like the paper clip which @Cato described.

The thickness of a string is not that important, if only the tension is low enough, the core will withstand the forces. Winding is affecting the weight of the string.

I also do this mainly because after a while i get bored with the tone so i change them and that's maybe every couple of Months.never had one break tough.

What i do is when i first fit them i pre stretch them just by pulling up each String in the middle and giving it a bit of a tug.

I do though remember Breaking a string when i was tuning a Bass up or Miss tuning a Bass up.

As long as your eyes react well to contact lenses you'll be fine.  Mine didn't and I ditched them years ago.

Now I don't wear spex when gigging. Fortunately I'm short sighted and can see my fretboard, amp and band mates.  Punters can be blurry though.

Yes i'm long sighted but the funny thing is according to the optician i am only long sighted from about two feet away from the fretboard.Recently i have been struggling to see the Fretboard. So Compensating for that i have been playing by Muscle Memory,my playing is suffering i think. So i am thinking of trying Contacts and was wondering if anyone else has this problem ,or is it only me.Not the worse thing in the world to happen i know but it is starting to annoy me now.Or should i just concede  that i'm an old git now and carry on regardless.

The camera you've bought can only create video directly to a computer; it has no means, itself, of stocking a video file (no memory card or the like...). This precludes Reaper for recording video, as this is not (yet...) available as an option. You will need software to record from the webcam; I use, and can recommend, 'Shotcut' for recording and editing my video, adding audio if necessary. Shotcut is free, and does all you'll need for your videos. It can be downloaded here ...

As with all stuff of the sort, there is some learning involved. It's easy enough to do easy things, and there is help available if you get stuck. Have a look and see if it fits your needs; hope this helps. :rWNVV2D:
