    Hi All,

£429 for the PF-50T sounds like a veritable bargain! I think it looks and sounds great, if the demos I’ve seen are anything to go by. Don’t suppose anyone has tried this in a pub-gig environment with no FOH?

I’m wondering whether this through a pair of Barefaced Super Compacts might just be a go-er.

    Cheers,

    Jase

To be honest through a pair of super compacts I’d give the 20 a go with my band (not heavy - Americana, but drums, guitar, keys and lead vocals/acoustic)

It has arrived and I've had a quick play on it.

It's very good. Super clean as expected and adds activeness to my PJ-Ray - and makes it easier to tame the top end as it is a bright bass - far more controllable than just a passive tone..

So far I think I also prefer it to the active circuit in my Marleaux too.

    Excellent bit of kit.

Have you tried it with any drives/distortions before or after yet?

  3. Another update..

Gig on Saturday night - it was a pub having a festival. Pub Car park job.

Sounded like it was going to be average at first, but it was a decent size setup and there were loads of people there! We did the main closing slot from 9.30 to 11.00

Took the FRFR and the new Dave Hall Preamp. DI out from FRFR to FOH which was really well set up and sounded glorious. The FRFR did a great job of giving over the fullness and "authority" of the DH Preamp and it's valve goodness. Plenty of volume and saved a load of space. Once again, did it's job well.

Turned out to be the most enjoyable gig of the year so far..!

Did nobody warn you? When I joined I owned 2 basses - been through several more since becoming a member here.

Mrs B has officially given up and decided she might as well have some as well.

I am basically now a slave to the stuff everyone posts here. My "wants" list looks like War and Peace.

I didn't even know I fancied a thin line acoustic bass like this... but guess what?

I did feel for him, as I suspect we all did.

If it hadn't been that particular colour I'd have been really tempted at the final FS asking price even though it was a 4 string and I'm kinda focusing on 5ers these days... I guess when you're forking out > £1k for a bass, you kinda want it be something you really like looking at as well as playing. (Or am I just being too fussy on that score?)

No I don’t think you are being fussy - it’s a buyers market in the used stuff these days - there’s a lot about for sale but not a massive number of buyers.

There’s lots of great bargains to be had and if you are spending your hard earned dosh then why not be picky?

  6. It’s funny isn’t it - back in the late 90s when I first played bass (had a gap as a multiinstrumentalist from 2000-2011ish) everyone I spoke to said “don’t buy a Warwick, they were ace but they are rubbish now” - so I didn’t and it’s sort of affected my view - I kinda don’t usually consider them as an option. Hmmm.
