  1. Royal Mail are brilliant around here, DHL are fine, no problems (tracking is pants though). Herpes are either fine or mindblowingly bad so it’s pot luck. The worst are Yodel and the now defunct Initial city Link. I would not use any company that used them as I knew it would be a nightmare.

Thanks T Bay.  Nothing special. An older Jupiter tenor, with some laquer rot as they were prone to,  recently comprehensively serviced and I'm told is worth £400. An almost as-new Jean Paul AS400, which sells for £619 new. Both with cases.

They should get some interest on the woodwind group as people are always after beginner/ intermediate stuff for sensible money. Good luck

  3. If you are on Facebook there is a private group called U.K. woodwind for sale. Stuff moves well on there and people are decent and will help with values if needed. Depending what they are and where you are, The Saxshack in Stoke is brilliant and he will sell them on commission for you, for student/ common stuff he gets better prices even after the % is taken off then you would get selling private. Cafe saxophone is a dead end, you get 100 comments picking up every tiny detail and I gave up in the end as stuff just doesn’t move at all and they aren’t very friendly.

Out of interest, what are they? I am partial to the odd saxophone here or there…..

can you tame these beasts or are they purely all gnarl

You can indeed, I changed the pre-amp valves to get a bit more clean headroom on mine. With 1000w on tap losing a little top end volume is not a problem.

I honestly can`t believe that someone could have one of those OTBs at full pelt, having had one it was amazingly loud, I`d expect walls to melt and floors to liquify if running one at full volume. How anyone could use one at that kind of volume is just beyond me.

+1 I have never run mine at more that halfway at ANY gig and that was outside. I know mine is the 1000w one but I have used a 500w one and it was very similar. I cannot imagine a venue big enough to need the volume but that relied on the band to fill the space with sound themselves.

The DVLA have a database of registered keepers.

    And people do clone numberplates.

But they don’t clone plates by contacting people advertising cars and asking what the reg is, contrary to the believers of the urban myth believers who fuzz out the reg on ads. It’s much easier to go down the local Asda etc and look for one, or just Google it. Even easier with serial numbers as most manufacturers publish lists/ dates.

Up to now I've never had any problems with an order I've actually been able to place, but I had my first taste of the customer service phone number this year. I had a voucher and an offer and an unusually low price that I wanted to take advantage of, so I put everything in the basket and tried to check out but the card payment just wouldn't happen. I called the bank and they said there was nothing wrong with my account and they could see no attempt to take any money. Tried again the next day since the order was still 'placed', just pending payment, but it failed again so I tried to call them to see whether they could help.. and that's when the telephonic abyss stared back at me, more than a couple of times. Eventually I gave up, cancelled the order and thought.. maybe I'll try to place it again.. but the voucher was 'used' at that point so I gave up completely and bought the thing I wanted from Thomann instead. I'll still use them for things that are in stock and on such a good offer I can't resist, but I'll use a payment method that includes provision to get my money back, just in case.

I had the same with an order, status was ‘placed’ but when I eventually spoke to spoke someone that is a complete lie apparently, it just sits in the system for a period of time and then gets booted out, nothing else happens. Crazy way to run a business that on a good day can be great.

    Arrgghhhh - how frustrating.

Have you cleared your cache T-Bay? If not it'll be loading what you last looked at. Please try that & shout if it's still causing you problems . . .

    Apologies
    T

Cleared cache but didn’t work, cleared all history and did a hard restart and it’s ok now. Must have been something still there. These scumbags just make life hard for small businesses. But it’s working now, so all good.

Howdy fellas, thanks for the heads-up - as fretmeister said all is sorted with the site now but shout if you experience any further issues, although as mentioned clearing the cache generally works wonders.

I've dropped you a line Hammer - looking forward to hearing your thoughts . . .

    Cheers all
    Tim

Still linking to the scam site for me 😢

Scale length is probably going to be the deciding factor, my daughter is a tall 11yr old and 30" is ok for her. An Ibanez TMB30 might be a good shout, they do some nice colours too.

Really good choice ^^^ I had one and sounded fantastic for the money. For around £100 second hand they are a bargain.
