  1. hiho, well the thumper arrived very quickly and is in now.Wow what a cracker. These pick ups are the dogs.
Wonderful company to deal with and very fast turn around.I will be retrofitting these to some of my other basses.
I will be getting a stealth 51 for sure.

  2. hiho, well i,ve fitted a Wizard thumper pick up and can only say-WOW.A pleasure to deal with and very quick service,my soldering iron hardly had time to warm up.
What can I say about the sound-Great,rich ,warm,growly,chiming-all round just a great sound.Great detail in sound and can use volume n tone to great effect.
Well next step is a schaller bridge and a set of tuners n she,s up n running. There is nowt wrong with the standard ones but you know I,ll not be happy till it,s done.

  3. hiho,what about a marshall mb 450 combo and a 15" cab or a mb450 amp head and cabinet/s of choice.
the combo will do 300 watt on it,s own or the full 450 with another 4 ohm cab.handy if you are playin a small gig.
I use the head version with 2 2x10,s at 4 ohm apiece so depending on size of venue you can use 1 cab for a small one or through a pa or the full monty if you want to have fun.mind you a 4x12 would be ace.
more than enough bottom end so don,t need a 15".hope this helps

  4. hiho,just ordered a wizard thumper for a p-bass copy.anybody got one fitted ?.
what do you think of it ?.
Anyone got a stealth 51 and what d,ya think ?
I will let you know what I think when it arrives and i get it fitted.Soldering iron getting heated up now in anticipation.
    keep on keepin on

  5. hiho,here,s my tupence worth.Vintage v4-p-bass style.got mine s/h for a knockabout.
I use a ricky and a musicman. It sounds great through my marshall stack.tweaked the neck, lowered the action, sorted the pick up heights and you have no problems giggin with this bass.imho a real steal especialy if you get one s/h in good condition.

  6. hiho,do you mean neck relief?.ricky necks come in two types.they adjust differently.unlike other basses that have a small amount of relief, rickys are set up flat ie no relief.
due to the construction of the neck through body you get what rickenbacker make unlike a bolt on neck that you can shim up so don,t worry about neck to body angle get the relief right and everything will be fine.
Remember to find out what neck you have.4001 adjusts in a different way to a 4003.4003 have some that have the truss rod adjusters at the body end and the others at the head end.the other bit is that there is a transition period when the changeover was done.joeybassnotes will keep you right.just guessing on what you mean and hope this points you in the right direction.

  7. Quick here,s the smellin salts   tried one out n never got round to gettin a sansamp but if you want to donate one the 3 switch one looks cool n what about the deluxe version.By the way what is the hartke bass attack like ? I would quite fancy one but how do they compare to the sansamp ?.Is your t40 black by any chance ?,what do you think of it?.I t is one of the few basses I would like to get my hands on,pity that they stopped making them.Any way getting off the thread here.Ricky and a driver of some sort and you are laughing. :)

  8. hiho,I recently bought a cheap bass for a knockabout which was a vintage v4 precision copy,my main bass is a ricky with a musicman for other jobs.I must admit that I am knocked out with the vintage v4.I bought it s/h for a low price but it was in as new condition.I love it to bits, excellent piece of kit.
Amps-well here we go,roland combo,s are in my opinion for the price excellent.I have a db700 which i use for practice at home, band and gigs.I also use marshall, peavey and hartke all of which I have only good words for.
The above advice about wattage is very good, you will need power at some stage when you come to practice ,jam with other people. You might think that 100 watt will be fine with a 100 watt guitar amp but you will be drowned out if they crank it up,so 250-3000 only jokin 300 will be about right.
S/h is a good option if you know what your doing or have somebody who knows the score. Most bass players are very good at looking after their gear.If you want any advice I,m sure that you have come to the right place and although opinions may vary we all try to give the best advice as we see it.All the best and enjoy the bottom end. :brow:

  9. hiho, well i,m looking forward to hearing how the wizards sound.
Here,s one for Noirpunk I am playing with Big Al ex uk subs guitarist n we have tracks recorded but desperatley need a singer,do you know any from around the Chester,Liverpool area ?. Long shot I know but can,t get the right man.D,ya know of anyone who would fit the bill ?
Anyway I,m looking forward to getting the vintage plugged into the marshall..

  10. hiho,I can,t believe myself how good these basses are for the money especially if you get one secondhand as i did.
I,ve come across these pick ups made in Wales called Wizard. These look like they are the ones and they are cheaper than seymours.
Yeh I will leave alone for the moment and see how they pan out.

  11. hiho, anybody put a seymour duncan quarter pounder in a vintage v4 precision copy and do you think it is worthwhile.
by all acounts the wilkinson pups n stuff is decent gear.
There has been a lot of advertising for these basses with endorsments flying around but are they as good as they say they are or do the artists get selected models-ie handbuilt or selected with upgraded bits.
So far after a good set up I am happy with this bass and will be taking it out on the road along with ricky .
I,ll keep you posted on how it goes.

  12. hiho,I use a mb450 head with two 2x10 cabs and it is great on the classic channel.the modern channel is better if you are using effects units as it doesn,t colour up the sound.I used to use ampeg with 8x10 cabs but i,m very happy with the marshall and would not go back.whoops goin to get some flack here for that comment. :)

  13. hiho,i recently got myself a vintage v4 for a knock around and all i can say is after tweeking the neck , the action, and adjusting the pick up heights.this is a very nice bass.
It has a different sound to my ricky n the musicman but for the price it is great value and you can gig with it as the sound is good.I am playing it through a marshall mb450 n a roland combo n have no complaints.
It is the precision copy i have just to clarify things.
A question-has anybody put a seymour duncan quarter pounder in one of these.what do you think ?

  14. hi ,i use the head version of this combo n it,s great.with an extension cab at 4 ohm you,ll rock the joint.well you can,t grumble at £260 quid all in.keep your eyes peeled for a cab n you,ll be ready for anything.big bang for buck n the classic channel is a classic.

  15. hi ,i,ve got the 15" version and it is the best combo amp i,ve come across.i would not part with it.fantastic sound and plenty of beef for it,s size.highly recommended IMHO.plus there is 2 channels to store presets into making 3 available for giggin.with a footswitch you can toggle between them when playing live but i usually only use the manual channel.well worth it.

  16. hi try out a behringer bass driver ,you,ll pick one up cheap on fleabay.i use mine through a mb450 marshall n play a ricky n a musicman through it n the driver will give you the ricky sound we all love at the drop of a hat.it,s a sansamp clone but mega cheaper.
